93 Self-Blame
“I’m not hurt.” Luo Ying shook her head and buried her head in Lu Zhao’s arms. “Just take me home.”
The effects of the drug hadn’t completely worn off, but she felt very safe in Lu Zhao’s arms, and she subconsciously snuggled against the man’s body.
Lu Zhao picked her up and strode out of the door.
“Xiao Ting, clean this place up,” Lu Zhao said coldly and kicked Lin Su to the side.
Lin Lu’s legs had long given way. She helplessly sat on the ground.
Her brother lay motionless. His face was pale and he did not seem to be breathing. She didn’t know if he was still alive.
Luo Ying’s eyes fell on Lin Lu.
Lu Zhao met Luo Ying’s eyes and slowly said, “I won’t let them off.”
Luo Ying shook her head. “I don’t care about them. I only care about you.”
Just as Luo Ying was about to say something, she felt her vision go black and she fainted.
She wanted to ask why Lu Zhao had rushed back so early, and also where the blood on Lu Zhao’s body came from.
But it didn’t matter. She could ask him when she woke up.
It was already dark when she woke up again.
Luo Ying slowly opened her eyes. Under her was the warm and soft bed at home, and she felt a sense of security.
She turned to look at the clock on the wall. It was already eight in the evening.
She slowly got up but didn’t see Lu Zhao.
Where did Lu Zhao go?
Luo Ying put on her clothes and went downstairs. She saw Xiao Ting downstairs.
“Mr. Xiao, where did Lu Zhao go?” Luo Ying asked.
Xiao Ting did not answer her and pointed at a woman sitting in the living room. “Madam, this is Dr. Cheng. President Lu has instructed me to check your body after you wake up.”
Luo Ying sat down slowly, waiting for the doctor to examine her.
Dr. Cheng was an experienced doctor, and she quickly gave a diagnosis. “You were drugged rather heavily. At heavier doses, it could have caused permanent damage, but fortunately that is not the case for you. You just need to rest for a few days and take some medicine.”
Dr. Cheng looked at Luo Ying’s hand again. “The wounds on your hand haven’t been treated. I’ll give you a tetanus shot and you’ll be fine.”
Luo Ying looked at her hand and then remembered the situation at that time. She had grabbed a bouquet of thorny roses to free the vase and use it as a weapon.
Luo Ying nodded. She did not know why, but the doctor seemed to be surveying her with a hostile gaze.
“Mr. Xiao, you haven’t answered my question. Where’s Lu Zhao?” Luo Ying looked up at Xiao Ting while waiting for the injection.
Xiao Ting shook his head. “President Lu has his own matters to deal with.”
Luo Ying grimaced in pain when the doctor practically stabbed her with the syringe. What was going on?
“Forgive me for being blunt, but I’ve been working for President Lu for so many years. You don’t know what’s good for you.” The doctor put away the needle and looked at Luo Ying coldly as she spoke.
Luo Ying finally realized that Lu Zhao’s eyes and eyebrows were somewhat similar to the doctor’s.
“Who are you, really?” Luo Ying frowned.
“I’m Lu Zhao’s aunt. I’ve watched Lu Zhao grow up. I don’t know why, but even after you betrayed him, he still treats you the same as before. You must be really good at this.”
Luo Ying was confused. What betrayal?
She had never betrayed Lu Zhao.
“President Lu is injured. He sustained the injuries overseas. He was trying to settle some disputes with D’Corporeal. But for some reason, his whereabouts were exposed, and an assassination attempt was carried out,” Xiao Ting said coldly.
“Most of the people who know our whereabouts are our own people. That includes you, Ms. Luo.” The doctor’s eyes were sharp, like a sharp blade stabbing Luo Ying. “In order to save you, he went on a rampage at the Lin Family’s residence. His wound reopened. He’s in a coma now. I don’t know when he will wake up.”
Luo Ying quickly stood up. “I want to see him.”
“Why would you want to do that? Haven’t you done enough harm?” Dr. Cheng said coldly.
“I didn’t do it, but I really need to see him now.” Luo Ying stood up and suddenly thought of something. She rushed to the room she had stayed in before and took out a small box from the bedside table. Inside it were a few pieces of paper that had turned yellow.
“These are the prescriptions left behind by my mother. They’ve been lost for a long time. If you can use them, take them,” Luo Ying said.
Dr. Cheng frowned as she looked at the prescription. As she looked at it, her eyes suddenly widened.
These were practically magical formulae. Why would Luo Ying have this?
“My mother used to be a famous doctor,” Luo Ying said. “I only found out about these prescriptions by chance recently.”
