Chapter 248: Tracking

Lu Zhao kept his thoughts to himself and silently placed the plate on the small table.
Luo Ying had no idea Lu Zhao would be so astute. She made a decision about which activities she would attend and hung up the phone.
“Wen Yu said you had low blood sugar last night.” Lu Zhao sat by the bed. He had been too drunk to notice last night. Luo Ying’s lips did seem pale today. “I hadn’t noticed. It’s all my fault.”
Luo Ying shook her head. “How could that be? I was just careless.”
“I’ve asked the kitchen to make some light porridge. Have some first.” Lu Zhao paused. “Your hand is weak. Would you permit me to help you?”
Two devils propped up in Luo Ying’s heart.
One devil reminded her that they had just argued yesterday, and now she was considering allowing Lu Zhao to feed her porridge. This hardly seemed dignified!
The other devil argued that a sick person deserved some special treatment, and a bit of intimacy while eating porridge didn’t mean they were getting back together.
After a moment of hesitation, she finally nodded her agreement.
Apart from his mother, all of Lu Zhao’s gentleness was most likely directed at Luo Ying. Who would have guessed that the CEO of Luya Corporation would take a day off on Monday to feed his ex-wife porridge?
However, Lu Zhao was all too happy to do it.
After eating half a bowl of porridge, Luo Ying touched her stomach discreetly under the blanket, revealing a contented expression. Lu Zhao’s new chef was far too talented. Even the breakfast porridge was tasty.
Lu Zhao smiled at her as he looked at her. The friendly vibe of the room made it hard to recall that they had been at odds the night before.
“Eat some more. Wen Yu gave you a glucose injection, but it’s been a while. Have you ever experienced low blood sugar?” Lu Zhao made a nonchalant inquiry.
Luo Ying swallowed a mouthful of porridge. “It’s inevitable that you’ll run into it at some point when the dancing gets too intense.”
Luo Ying thought back to when she had first arrived in this world. When her original body’s blood sugar dropped dangerously low, she ate candy to keep going.
The original version of her body wasn’t exactly robust. She had gotten good training after arriving here. Now, she was about to start over.
“Do you want Wen Yu to come for a physical examination?” Lu Zhao tentatively suggested.
“There’s no need. It’s just low blood sugar.” Luo Ying’s breath caught in her throat and she abruptly declined.
Would Wen Yu not learn about the blood draw if she came?
“Alright.” Lu Zhao didn’t press the issue any further.
His gaze, however, was drawn to Luo Ying’s face. His gut told him Luo Ying was aware of her physical condition. She was hiding something from him.
While thinking, Lu Zhao expertly scooped up another serving of porridge. Luo Ying probably wanted to keep this a secret.
Jin Shi was probably as clueless as he was. He could only resort to other means.
After a light breakfast, Lu Zhao suggested that Luo Ying take it easy for a while, but Luo Ying still had an ad shoot scheduled for the afternoon. Therefore, she needed to make a trip back to the studio.
So, Lu Zhao helped her pack and drove her there.
Lu Zhao wished he could soak up every possible second with Luo Ying.
Luo Ying felt herself beginning to nod off en route. Lu Zhao drove steadily, so she dozed off against the window frame of the passenger seat.
As a result, she was oblivious to the abrupt turn in the otherwise uneventful journey.
After leaving the city’s main highway, Lu Zhao began making sporadic lane changes at high speeds while scanning his rearview mirror.
They were driving normally, or so Luo Ying thought, until they stopped at a light.
“Turn right at the traffic light ahead.” The car’s GPS system relayed the route taken in accordance with the predetermined course. The studio was relatively close to the intersection.
3,2,1… The countdown to the green light was about to end, but Lu Zhao seized the last moment and shot right into another road.
“You have deviated. Please remain in the front…” The navigation system in the car immediately detected the change and announced it calmly.
Lu Zhao’s expression became solemn as he reached out to turn off the car’s navigation system.
“Hmm? What’s wrong?” Luo Ying had noticed Lu Zhao’s unusual behavior as well.
“A silver car is following us. It has followed us since the Ring Road,” Lu Zhao said quietly.
He couldn’t tell if it was just a coincidence. Even after he squeaked through the red light with mere seconds to spare and turned, the silver car continued to tail him.
Where did they come from? Lu Wen? Old Master Lu? Or a business competitor?
Lu Zhao glanced at the rearview mirror and frowned..
