“Stop!”
At the appearance of the Rabbit, everyone halted.
“Hard Metal violated the rules of no fighting outside of the Arena. You are hereby disqualified.”
“. . . HUH?!”
“Disqualified?! Us?! What about them?! Did you look at that guy there?! How can you disqualify us when he’s clearly a bug himself?!”
The fight was over with Ren as the victor, so the Rabbit was summoned to the area once more to mediate the situation.
“Player Ren didn’t cheat. He defeated his enemies using his ATP and skills,” The Rabbit said with a monotone voice like it was reading its well prepared notes.
“That can’t be?!”
“Don’t you have eyes?!”
“It was thirteen against one! How can he win that?!”
“Show us proof that he didn’t cheat!”
Discontent and furious voices filled the area while Ren yawned in boredom.
“It is against the rules to show a player’s ATP. But you have our word that the Guild Wars is forever fair.”
“Fair, my ass?!”
“Are you in with that guild?! Are the developers secretly betting on them? That’s why you’re defending them?!”
“This will not escape the forums. I will post this on social media, and everyone will cancel this game that even at the end of the world, you can never financially and socially recover! Unless, of course . . . you disqualify them.”
“. . .” The Rabbit remained stoic, but there seemed to be an angry vein popping on the side of its cheek. “The developers don’t bet on anyone. Player Ren didn’t cheat. Now . . . if you don’t want to be disqualified, I suggest that you back away from Roaring Tigers and Fighting Lambs.”
The other guild was dumbstruck at the turn of events. They were more shocked to know that their hopes of winning were turning into dust as the seconds moved.
The Rabbit wasn’t budging with its decision while the monster on top of the Arena who was eyeing them with a bored face was still alive and in full health.
At this moment . . . they realized that they could no longer win, and this got some to cry in frustration while some turned back with hunched shoulders.
“Heck! If we can’t win, then at least let me punch those bastards to sate my hunger!”
At the player’s words, some others who were still driven by their emotions all went to Leonel and the others. But before they could even come close, an invincible force propelled them all away.
“Flat Nose Guild is disqualified. We are Handsome is Disqualified. EXP is Life is disqualified.” The Rabbit then faced the others. “Anyone else?”
The reaming guild all backed away when one after another, players were bursting into particles left and right.
The Developers weren’t lenient in the least about the punishment. There was no first offense or anything like that. It was a straight trip to the grave with them.
At least on the Arena, they still might have a chance. They were hoping that Ren would lose the match even though the chances of that happening were so thin, like their chance of winning.
Maybe . . . they would recruit him in the next Guild War after all.
<The next representative . . . please step onto the Arena in 20 seconds . . . >
At the signal of the system’s voice, the Rabbit turned into pixels.
“Hey. Thanks for defending us,” Leonel said, “and sorry for the trouble.” He felt bad because the Rabbit was always summoned because of them.
The Rabbit merely looked over at Leonel and said with a serious voice, “I’m merely doing my job. In this kind of tournament, there’s always bound to be dissonance . . .”
The Rabbit then turned into pixels before disappearing from sight completely.
“. . . S-so . . . so cool!” Leonel muttered with shining eyes.
The others watched him like he was a kid who had just experienced the world for the first time.
“Anyway, is Ren going to massacre everyone again?” Roxy asked. She had to admit that she was sceptical about Ren’s capabilities at first. But now . . . she was so glad that amongst the many charity cases, he picked their guild. That trophy of gold and prestige was finally within reach!
“I think that will answer your question.” Sumeri pointed at the Arena.
The moment that the fight started, like in the previous round, everyone was after Ren’s throat. But before they could come close to the guy, four of them were shot dead with elemental magic before they burst into particles and disappeared.
Ren wasn’t pulling any punches. He was slaughtering everyone on the get-go with no remorse. In fact, there was even a small smile playing on his lips as he did so.
At that moment, everyone truly believed that he was a devil in disguised. Hidden behind his handsome exterior was a demon. Even Roxy and Sumeri thought the same, and they were so glad that Ren was on their side.
No wonder that guy was so arrogant. Sumeri mused to herself. He really had something to be arrogant about. Now, she understood his cheekiness, and Sumeri couldn’t help but giggle for the reason that even she didn’t know why.
While Leonel was biting his nails nonstop at the thought that he would treat Ren to lunch . . . for a Week! Now he wasn’t so sure if he wanted Ren to win or not. The prize money he would receive if ever they would get any was as good as gone into Ren’s belly if ever.
After just less than two minutes, the second round was over, and there were only three guilds left that could fight in the fourth round beside Roaring Tigers and Fighting Lambs.
Could they just forfeit? The other guilds thought. The outcome was the same anyway, no matter if they fought. At least it was better than being humiliated on top of the stage.
Their confidence took a blow that even at the signal of the fourth fight, no one moved on the stadium and they just accepted the rain of fire coming their way.
Eventually, Roaring Tigers and Fighting Lambs were crowned as the victor in their server, and Ren became a nightmare for many players since then. He became well-known like he wanted . . . but for a whole new reason entirely.
“How did you do that?” Roxy immediately asked when Ren stepped down from the podium.
“Just how high is your ATP?” chimed in Sumeri with a laugh.
“Mister. You’re really strong. You’re just like the Ren I know,” said Nikolai.
Ren ignored the clamor over him and his eyes locked on Leonel before he beamed an evil smile.
“We’ll eat at that luxury steak house that you always wanted to try. There’s also that Michelin awarded Japanese restaurant and hotpot. Just tell me where you want to have lunch first. Remember . . . it’s your treat for a week. K?”
Leonel could only nod his dead with a bleeding heart. A deal is a deal.
Me and my big mouth. Leonel lamented.
