Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3657: Silkspear’s Issue and Solution

Chapter 3657: Silkspear’s Issue and Solution

The soldier from before brought over a rather intricately crafted artifact with a built-in formation for testing a person’s Spirit roots. It was in the shape of a curved vase, with two handles growing out from the sides of it.

"Here. What now?" Silkspear asked as she placed the artifact on the table before her.

Alex looked at the artifact for a moment before gesturing for the Reverend to start off with her test. Silkspear wasted no time and immediately started her test. She placed her two palms around the handles and activated the formation.

Immediately, the test took effect, which lasted for a brief few seconds before relaying the result to everyone there. The result arrived in the form of produced aura, that one could sense and tell the potency of.

Alex was surprised that despite never having seen the artifact before in his life, he had a very intricate understanding of just how strong the aura was supposed to be, as well as how much of a difference there was between the various spirit roots.

In the case of Silkspear, her strongest root was the Wood root, followed by her Fire root and her Earth root. She also had a relatively weak Yin root.

Based on Alex’s understanding in that situation, he quickly realized a fault within her spirit roots that was likely slowing her down quite a bit.

"Here’s what you should do," Alex said within mere seconds of noticing the result. "Your Wood root is the strongest, yet it is also the one that is being most affected. The root that should have technically been the strongest after everything is your Earth root, and yet it is clearly the weakest."

Silkspear’s eyes narrowed. "Is something wrong then?" she asked.

"I wouldn’t exactly call it wrong, and more so a bit of misfortune," Alex said. "You aren’t cultivating at the fastest speed you could because of this."

Silkspear sensed the aura once again, unable to tell much at all. "What exactly is the problem? And what can I do to fix it?" she asked.

"The problem is that your strongest root, the Wood root, is incapable of working at peak efficiency because your weaker roots are dragging it down. I assume you use a Wood-based cultivation technique, don’t you?"

The woman nodded. "I’m making a mistake? But... I only did what my master said. How could that be incorrect?"

"I fear even the Sky God isn’t exactly aware of this, so I wouldn’t blame her," Alex said.

"Okay? So, is there a fix to it? That’s why you are here, right?" Silkspear asked.

Alex nodded. He thought for a moment, considering the best recourse in the current situation.

"You have two possible solutions," he answered. "One is a little better, but harder to achieve. The other is less difficult, but it is a temporary fix at best. Which one would you like to hear?"

The woman shrugged. "Both. I want to make an informed decision, after all."

Alex nodded. "Understandable. In that case, your first solution is rather simple. Improve your Earth and Fire roots as much as you can, and shift your cultivation technique to an Earth-based technique."

"Huh?" The woman could hardly believe her ears. "You want me to change my cultivation technique?"

"Yes. With your Yin root and Fire root empowering Earth, which then in turn makes your Wood root much worse, you are not seeing the best of your spirit roots. If you manage to do that, your cultivation speed will rise quite a bit."

The woman didn’t immediately take in Alex’s words as the truth. She mulled over it, trying to see if there was a chance he was wrong instead. However, she was simply unable to make sense of his information as she didn’t have the same understanding surrounding it that he did.

However, what she did know was that improving her spirit roots at the Divine realm was no easy matter. It would take a lot of resources, which she wouldn’t be able to find so easily. So, she had to skip on that for now.

"What about the other option?" she asked.

"The other option is that you eat pills that reduce the potency of your Fire or Earth root, or both, so that it frees up your Wood root to cultivate more. This is a good temporary technique, but in the long run, I fear this may end up costing you a lot more than you think."

Silkspear weighed the two options. "So, either improve my spirit roots or eat some pills, right?"

"That is the gist of it," Alex said. "Improving your spirit roots is the better option. It will result in a much faster cultivation speed, by the way."

"How much faster?" Silkspear asked with great curiosity at this point.

Alex thought for a moment, the exact values of the changes taking a bit of his mental prowess to land upon.

"It’s hard to give you an exact number since I do not know how your body deals with your spirit roots. But in a vacuum, the pills should improve your cultivation speed by about 10 to 15 percent. If you take the other option and change to an Earth-based cultivation method, the improvement could be as high as 40%."

Silkspear looked surprised upon hearing the first part of the information, since 15 percent was already high enough for any cultivator. Even 5 percent would be an increase that anyone would strive for.

However, upon hearing the second part of his information, that claimed to be able to nearly increase her speed by half, that simply left her awestruck.

"Are you... telling the truth?" she asked. Such an increase in cultivation base was unheard of without using any pills for temporary improvement. There was no chance she could make that improvement her default, could she?

Alex chuckled lightly. "Did you think the Sky God put me up to this task for no reason? I have ways to improve the cultivation speed of every single person out there. That is why I am here."
