I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week

Chapter 2979: Escape Plan

Chapter 2979: Chapter 2979: Escape Plan

"At worst, it’s just death. What’s there to be afraid of? You could even get into the Martyr Cemetery, bring glory to your ancestors."

"Quit joking, think of a way quickly."

"Hey hey hey, you’re the leader here. You want your subordinate to come up with a plan? Isn’t that too much?"

"I’ve gotten older; my brain doesn’t work as well as you young folks."

"You should spend less time on Immortal Cultivation; it’s not good for your health."

"I’ll try my best."

Lin Yi stretched lazily and said:

"All the streets nearby are filled with their people. It’ll be tough to get out."

"So, are you really planning to parkour your way through?"

"No, I actually plan to hit them hard."

Liu Hong looked at Lin Yi. "Hit them hard?"

"I know your skills. We’d definitely make a great team. I’ve never fought such a well-equipped battle in my life."

"I’m at least a regiment-level officer, and you want me to risk my life?"

"But if it really came down to a life-and-death fight, I wouldn’t stand a chance against you, right?"

Liu Hong smacked his lips and took a few drags from his cigarette.

"Shall we give it a try then?"

"What’s there to hesitate about?" Lin Yi said:

"I’ll go prepare. Let’s move out tonight."

"Be careful."

"Don’t worry."

Lin Yi turned and left. As for what he was going to do, Liu Hong had no idea.

To him, Lin Yi was someone he could completely trust.

Besides, this was just a minor issue, something that could be handled with ease.

Lin Yi moved through the tasks quickly and returned by noon.

Liu Hong didn’t know what he had done, but he came back with two sets of clothes.

"Are you planning to disguise yourself?"

"Well, since they’ve sent so many people, I’ve got to give them some face."

"True enough," Liu Hong said:

"But you were out for so long and all you got were two sets of clothes?"

"Got a bit more than that," Lin Yi winked.

"You’ll find out soon."

The two of them spoke little after that.

They just sat side by side, staring idly at the sky.

No one knew what was going through their minds.

And there was no trace of tension on their faces.

Just like two people on a countryside trip, carefree, watching the scenery.

Time passed, second by second, and soon it was midnight.

The buildings around lit up, evoking a sense of homesickness.

But after midnight, these lights went out one by one, shrouding the ancient city in a dark veil, hiding its true charm.

Liu Hong checked his watch and found it was already 1 AM, so he stood up and stretched.

"The time should be about right. Let’s get started."

Lin Yi nodded, also stood up to stretch, then, in their changed clothes, the two went downstairs together.

Meanwhile, the Anglo and Gongyuan Association people were searching the nearby neighborhoods.

Although they hadn’t sealed the area with brute force, they controlled every small detail of the streets undercover.

As soon as Lin Yi appeared, he would definitely be discovered.

At this moment, a muscular man in camo and a black vest emerged from an alley by the street, stopping next to an SUV.

"Captain, we’ve searched for a whole day and night and still haven’t found any trace of them. Could they have already fled?"

"The area is sealed; they can’t escape. Maybe they’re hiding somewhere. As long as we stay here, we’ll find them."

The speaker wasn’t particularly brawny, of average build, with short hair, and he was a westerner.

His name was Am, and he was the leader of this nearby team.

The capture operations in this area were all under his command.

Snap—

Am casually lit a cigarette and said:

"Check those places with complicated terrain more thoroughly, especially the nearby residential areas. If we still can’t find them, go door-to-door. We can’t give them too much time."

"Got it."

Answering, the man in the black vest called over three others, armed themselves, and headed toward the nearby residential buildings.

"Group leader, this Lin Yi guy is said to be quite a tough character. Many have fallen to him," said a bald man.

"I haven’t faced him personally, but so many people say so; it must be true. Be prepared with your weapons; he’s hard to handle."

"Understood."

"Hey, group leader, look up ahead, it seems like there are two people."

The man in the black vest glanced, and a suspicion arose in his heart.

"It’s already so late. Why are there still people heading out?"

"Look at their build; they resemble the ones we’re looking for."

"They know we’ve been stationed here; there’s no way they’d stroll out boldly."

The other three team members agreed.

At a time like this, they’d be too busy hiding, yet coming out so openly would be asking for death.

Moreover, their gait was not at all restrained, completely unlike those being hunted.

Soon, the distance between the two parties closed.

The man in the black vest paled suddenly.

Although both had their heads slightly lowered, and the lighting was dim, their profiles were a perfect match for the two they were after.

"Take action! Stop them!"

Just as he spoke, Lin Yi and Liu Hong moved simultaneously.

Despite Liu Hong being a bit plump, his speed wasn’t slow, almost reaching the four of them alongside Lin Yi!

The sudden change threw the four into disarray.

Lin Yi first slashed one of their throats and then plunged the dagger into another’s abdomen.

Liu Hong’s moves were almost impossible to parry, striking viciously without hesitation.

Although he had been in an administrative position for years, his skills hadn’t dulled.

"How’s my level?"

"Boss Liu’s mighty moves are truly a model for us to learn from."

"Quit joking," Liu Hong said:

"We now have two choices: stay here to deplete their forces, but soon we’ll be detected."

"Or disguise ourselves and hijack a car to break out."

After listening to Liu Hong’s suggestions, Lin Yi said:

"Better to hijack a car and break out. These aren’t simple opponents; if they don’t get a response soon, they’ll sense something amiss, and we could get surrounded and trapped."

"That’s definitely possible; these people’s abilities shouldn’t be underestimated."

"Let’s change clothes now and then circle out."

The two stripped clothes off the bodies and put them on themselves.

Though it was hard to fully disguise, it was better than nothing.

Lin Yi looked around and spotted a black sedan.

He first took out his dagger and smashed the car’s front and rear lights to avoid any light that might make them a target.

After handling that, he used his elbow to break open the car window and unlocked the door.

He then sliced open the keyhole with the dagger, connecting the ignition wires.

The engine roared to life, and the two of them got in, beginning their imminent escape journey.
