Chapter 2041: Cunning Gray-haired Beastman

Chapter 2041: Cunning Gray-haired Beastman

Grey and the gray-haired beastman finalized their agreement and plans before Grey left to rest with his friends. According to his discussion with the gray-haired beastman, they would attack later that night. The clan they were attacking would be having a ceremony later that night, so they would never expect that their enemies would attack at such a time.

Time flew by and it was soon night time.

In a far away valley, a large crowd of beastpeople could be seen gathered before a large volcano on the ground.

All these beastpeople were moving around the volcano, numbering over thousands. It was shocking that an active volcano was in the middle of such a beautiful valley. There were a myriad of beautiful flowers present, and just the view alone can give one a certain sense of calm.

This volcano can not be regarded as a normal one, given it was nothing more than a large pool of lava as its height was barely about ten meters high. Yet the heat coming out from the pool of lava was enough to burn a normal person if they dared to get within fifty meters of it.

The beastpeople did not need to worry about this heat. First off, they were all in the Sovereign Plane and could easily protect themselves from this heat. There was also the fact that their bodies were extremely strong compared to that of a human. So even without their high cultivations, they had nothing to worry about.

The sounds of bearing drums resounded across the valley as the laughter and chattering of these beastpeople sounded about.

About three kilometers away from the valley.

Grey and the gray-haired beastman were floating mid-air, their eyes staring fixatedly on the ongoing occasion. Even though it was currently night, it was by no means dark as the full moon shone down, lighting up the entire world. The valley held a certain charm thanks to the moonlight.

"When do we attack?" Grey asked.

The gray-haired beastman calculated for some time and replied, "They should start the procedure in another one hour. At that time, it will be harder for them to react appropriately."

Grey could not help but take a glance at the gray-haired beastman. One had to know that beastpeople were just like Magical Beasts and unlike humans, they could not be regarded as cunning or calculative. This did not mean they were not intelligent, rather, due to their proud nature, they would rather outright attack than to plot. Of course, there were exceptions, this situation being one of them.

The gray-haired beastman could barely hide the killing intent he held towards this clan, which Grey found strange. Even when he stole their sacred treasure, this gray-haired beastman never showed such murderous intent.

’Could it be that they had a blood feud?’ This was the only reason Grey could think of. He did not think much of it, tossing the thought to the back of his head. All he had to do was to strike when the time was right, he did not care what the relationship between the gray-haired beastman clan and this clan was.

Following the gray-haired beastman, they retreated.

Other than the gray-haired beastman and the other three Peak Sovereigns, only those in the Seventh stage of the Sovereign Plane and above came for this battle.

In a war between clans like these, once the leading figures were killed, there was no point worrying about the others since they could be easily dealt with. The only reason those below the Peak of the Sovereign Plane were even considered for it was because given the large number of Ninth stage Sovereigns in the opposing clan, it would be impossible for the Peak Sovereigns to deal with their opponents with any dangers from being distracted by the others. A Ninth stage Sovereign might not be a Peak Sovereign’s match, but what about five Ninth stage Sovereigns, or even ten.

For this reason, they too had to bring their own Ninth stage Sovereigns. Anyone below the Seventh stage could not change the course of this battle, so there was no need to bring them.

The one hour went by in the blink of an eye, and the four Peak Sovereigns of the clan celebrating the occasion soon removed their tops before walking into the volcano to soak in it.

The gray-haired beastman, who had been waiting for this moment all this while, bellowed, "Attack!"

Saying this, he struck out with a powerful palm made of lightning that aimed straight for the volcano.

The gray-haired beastman was not the only one who attacked at this moment, everyone from his clan struck out at the same time, their target was none other than the four Peak Sovereigns bathing in the lava pool.

The four Peak Sovereigns never expected to be attacked, hearing the roar from the gray-haired beastman, they raised their head, only to see an innumerable number of lightning elemental attacks raining down at them with shocking speed.

How could they not know that they had been attacked.

Roaring, one of the beastpeople who had a large claw mark on his chest shot out of the lava pool. He could not allow these attacks to land.

The other three Peak Sovereigns made a move as well, pushing their essence to the limit as they tried to block the attack.

Those Ninth stage Sovereigns in the crowd also rose to the sky as well to meet the enemy’s attacks.

The entire valley was soon thrown into chaos, and those who were in the Early stages of the Sovereign Plane were barely able to stand as they felt their bodies sinking into the ground due to the pressure. Even those in the Mid stages could barely hold out much less these people. The weaker ones even passed out one the spot due to the pressure.

Grey and his friend did not join the attack, this was not the time for them to make an appearance. According to the gray-haired beastman, only after both sides were tightly locked on battle could he make a move. This was the best way to maximize the effectiveness of his sneak attack.

These were Peak Sovereigns after all, so if they were not locked in a life and death battle, the chances of Grey’s sneak attack succeeding would be quite low.

Grey was also aware of this, hence the reason he agreed with the plans of the gray-haired beastman. If he showed himself too early, there was a chance for the other Peak Sovereigns to escape as soon as they knew their lives were in danger.

Watching multiple secret techniques fly left and right, Grey could not help but click his tongue at the brutality of war. It had been only a minute or so since the battle started, but the death count had already crossed over a hundred. During the initial attack, even with the prompt response of the four Peak Sovereigns, some Sovereigns still failed to block the attacks and were injured. The moment they engaged the enemy, their injuries naturally impacted their strengths.

These deaths did not include those who were not engaged in battle. If Grey counted those who the shockwaves from the battle killed, then the death tally was already in the thousands.

’Life really is a fickle thing.’ He sighed. This was the same situation happening in the Human World every time they clashed with the Gnomes.

After so many years, millions of people had already died in the cruel war. There were not wrongs or rights in war, only winners and losers.

As Grey watched, Klaus and Reynolds were both eager to charge forward and kill a few beastpeople, but were stopped by Grey. Grey did not want them to lose the element of surprise since the beastpeople might retreat the moment they noticed their attackers had helpers. At the moment, after the initial dominance showed from the first set of attacks, both sides quickly entered a stalemate with neither gaining the advantage. If not for the weaker clansmen being killed from the fallout of the attacks, then this attack would have been deemed as a failure.

The gray-haired beastman was naturally aware of their strength, for this reason, even though he had always had the thought of eliminating this clan, he had never dared to do so. It was only after encountering Grey did he finally decide to launch this attack.

The leaders of the clan attacked were all incensed, as more and more of their weaker clansmen died, their rage only grew.

Both parties were locked in a heated battle, and the first unexpected event happened. From the gray-haired beastman’s clan, one of his Peak Sovereigns was injured by Grey the last time, now that he had to fight against someone of the same strength, he could barely hold his own.

Without hesitation, the gray-haired beastman knew if Grey did not take action now, then his companion might lose his life here.
