Chapter 2039: You Enjoy Playing With Your Life

Silvan and the rest of the group had regrouped at the cave where Grey told them he would meet with them. It had been a few hours now since they departed and Gareth was starting to make accusations. His accusations infuriated Klaus, Alice, and Reynolds.

"If your friend dares to steal the core, even if he’s from the Dawson Family, he should forget about keeping his life." Gareth stated coldly.

Klaus took a glance at Gareth, as an ice cold killing intent flashed through his eyes. If not for the fact that there were others here, he would have killed this stupid fool by now. Gareth might be considered a genius in a normal sense, but in the presence of Klaus and the others, he was just another Seventh stage Sovereign who they could kill, they would only have to pay a higher price compared to the other ones if they wanted to kill him.

Silvan sensed the killing intent coming from all three of Grey’s friends’ bodies and knew he had to stop Gareth from speaking further before he caused a clash. He did not want to have a fall out with Grey, he knew just how powerful the latter was, and was not even confident he could defeat him.

"That’s enough Gareth, Grey was the one who told us to meet up here, he will surely come. In case you forgot, he was being chased by four Peak Sovereigns, if you believe you can survive such a chase, you should’ve taken the core from him and run with it." Silvan commented.

Gareth’s expression turned awkward after being reprimanded by Silvan. Thinking about how Grey was chased by four Peak Sovereigns, he felt his scalp tingle. If he were in the same situation, he was a hundred percent certain that he would not survive more than a few seconds. Even one Peak Sovereign would be able to end his life, much less four at a time.

Just when he was about to ask why Silvan was so sure Grey would even be able to survive the pursuit, a figure appeared in the cave mysteriously.

The sudden appearance of a new figure alerted everyone as they mobilized their essences, ready to fight at moments notice.

"Calm down, it’s not an enemy." Reynolds spoke out.

Gareth was the only one who, instead of reigning in his essence, he attacked. It was unknown if he truly did not see who it was or not, but he attacked the figure nonetheless. His palm was covered by a sharp wind that he tried to use to slash at the face of the figure.

Just as Gareth’s palm was about to touch the figure, the figure slightly swayed his body, before grabbing onto Gareth’s hand.

The wind essence in Gareth’s palm was easily dissolved before a cold voice stated, "I’ll pardon you just this once, the next time you attack it, even if it’s a mistake, you’ll be lucky if you lose only an arm."

Gareth tried to withdraw his arm, only to discover to his shock that no matter how much he tried to, he could not free himself from the other party’s hold.

Looking at the cold dispassionate eyes staring at him, he felt like he was staring at death itself.

Grey let go of Gareth’s hand before turning to Silvan, "You should be more careful when picking friends next time. Someone like this will only bring you trouble."

After saying that, he brought out a core and tossed it to Silvan.

Silvan did not say anything about Grey’s threat to Gareth, nor did he respond to the advice. Although he also found it odd that Gareth seemed to be finding trouble with Grey’s group all this while, he did not really want to involve himself in any conflict. Of course, that did not mean he would not stop it before it escalated to a level where they fought each other.

"Thank you." He did not hide his gratitude for Grey’s help. If not for Grey, he did not know if he would have been able to fulfill his mission. To be honest, when he went out to look for Grey, he was not very optimistic. After all, he knew nothing about the latter, and all he heard were rumors.

"Since this is all, we will be leaving now. We have a limited time to explore this place." Grey nodded before signaling his friends.

It was already time for him to head over to where he collected the lightning crystal. Their agreement was for him to return the next day, and it was already time for him to fulfill his part of the deal.

"Oh, you’re leaving on your own?" Silvan did not expect Grey to want to leave almost immediately they completed the mission.

"Is there a problem with that?" Grey asked. Before entering this place, they were told they would be free to explore after helping Silvan complete his mission, which they had.

Silvan shook his head, "Not at all. I just thought you would want to stay with the group since we can look out for each other that way."

"We like moving alone." Grey said.

Klaus, Alice, and Reynolds nodded. Even when they were weaker in the Trial Lands, they still went their separate ways after getting to a certain point. This was the best way for them to maximize their exploration, so they were used to this. Although it was also more dangerous, when had they ever been scared of danger?

"Since that’s the case, I won’t stop you. But remember, you can’t stay for longer than six months." Silvan sighed as he reminded them of the time frame they could stay before leaving.

Grey and his friends acknowledged this before exiting the cave.

Watching them leave, Silvan turned to Gareth, "You really enjoy playing with your life."

Silvan was certain the only reason Gareth was still alive was due to his presence. Even before Grey’s appearance, Klaus and the others were on the verge of ripping him apart.
