Chapter 1669: Infinite Avatar
Emperor Kong closed his eyes, trying to sense the change occurring inside his body. The first thing he detected was the broken memories of his Alternate Self slowly creating all his ultimate skills. Although these memories were incomplete, they can serve as a blueprint for him to become a Primal as soon as possible.
’I made the right choice to compete for this position,’ Kong thought. Although there were dangers to being the Chosen One, the rewards were more than enough to make up for it. With these memories, he can probably become a Primal in one retreat. More importantly, he can probably skip D-Class Primal and reach C-Class since his alternate self had already created multiple Ultimate Skills.
’However, what is that other feeling?’ Kong contemplated. Besides the memory, his body felt different somehow, but he couldn’t pinpoint exactly how. So, he focused and searched every aspect of his flesh and soul. ’Is that a transcendent foundation?’ Some memories from the alternate self mentioned Saint Foundations, and the changes to his body fit the description perfectly.
’No, it’s not complete, but more like a prototype,’ Kong concluded. He did not expect that the benefit of swallowing his alternate self was the prototype to a transcendent foundation, which meant his path to S-Class Primal just became easier. Kong smiled as his future was bright.
"Now, how to escape this place?" he muttered as he opened his eyes. A potent divine sense spread to every corner of this dimension, but no exit was detected. Kong then used numerous Spatial Spells and even a Void Breaking Talisman, but nothing changed.
’I should expect as much from these people,’ he complained to himself. The design of this Unification Tower obviously favored the divine timeline individuals. If they win, their future will be set, but if they lose, their opponent will be forever imprisoned in this place.
’Do I have to kill myself and enter limbo?’ Kong contemplated. Death might be the only way for him to escape. However, he worried that the divine timeline people had even blocked access to Limbo, thus preventing him from reviving outside of this dimension. So, he weighed the pros and cons of trying this approach. But, just as he was about to make a decision, he sensed something.
"Hmm? There is a karma thread strongly calling me. Is it the Saint?" There is no way that his disappearance would go by unnoticed, so it made sense that the Saint would search for his location. So, without much hesitation, Emperor Kong sat cross-legged in the air to try to strengthen his connection to the karma thread. Then, a powerful force yanked him out of this dimension.
The process was harsher than Kong or anyone expected. His powerful fleshly body was shredded apart after only a few seconds of traveling, followed by most of his souls. By the time he landed in the Heavenly Court, there was only a handful of Kong’s soul left. What’s more, the terrifying spatial energy that existed in the in-between realm acted similarly to a True Will, preventing him from regenerating. So, Maitreya waved her hand to remove the energy and provided Kong with enough world sources to restore himself.
"Thank you, Saint."
"No need for that since I failed to protect you."
"There is no need to blame yourself since there is nothing you could have done," Kong replied.
"Oh? So you know what happened to you?"
"Yes." Kong did not hesitate to explain the situation with the Unification Tower and what he had experienced with his alternate self, including the reward he received afterward.
"This is bad news," Qiyuan commented. "Right now, they are probably limited to the cultivators in our world. But once they have more power or possibly deal with the Hong Protective System, they will be able to summon people from anywhere in the Chaos Universe."
"Not to mention the strategic use of this tower," Wang Wei added. "They could easily find our alternate selves and forced us into that tower to compete with them."
"But think about the benefits," Ye Guang added. "This tower is a great way to train more Primals. If we could control it, or at least have some influence, it could do wonders for the entire world."
"The benefits are not worth the possible danger," Qiyuan disagreed. There are other ways to accelerate the birth of Primals, and since Primordial Selves do not need alternates to cultivate, the value of the tower is not as important to them. Meanwhile, for the Divine Timeline, the tower represents more future Saints.
"It may not be as valuable to Paragons, but the same cannot be said for Saints — especially the flawed one."
"You mean this can be used to improve the foundation pillars?" Qiyuan asked.
"I don’t see why not?"
Wang Wei frowned. Meanwhile, Kong and his people had a puzzled expression. They had no idea what foundation pillars were. Maitreya glanced at them and, thinking she needed to reward Kong, snapped her fingers and sent the information into their minds.
"What are you thinking?"
"Hmm?" Wang Wei muttered. "Oh, I don’t know why, but I was living with the assumption that after becoming a Saint, the alternate selves would become an extension of our [Existence]."
"Extension? As in, we can access their memories and experience, and so on?"
"Not just that. They are a part of us — they are our Avatars, meaning not only can we control them, but we can also use their existence to revive when needed."
Maitreya’s body and demeanor visibly paused. How could she not think of that? Her transcendent path involved absorbing numerous alternate selves, but she never considered this possibility. ’Something is wrong,’ Maitreya thought. The fact that she did not put the two together was not just a simple cognitive block. So, she closed her eyes and deduced the information.
"I see. This is an ability only 10 pillars and above can use," Maitreya muttered. Paragons have [True Avatars] and [Proxy Avatars]. While these concepts appeared useless because ChronoSpirit Skills have evolved to such a high level throughout the Chaos Universe, they still exist. And the next evolution of this concept is the [Infinite Avatar]. A Ten Pillar Saint will turn all their alternate self into their avatars, meaning their [Existence] will be spread throughout the Infinite Trichiliocosm.
Maitreya sighed. Such information was even more motivation to reforge her foundation. She glanced at Wang Wei. "The karmic debt I owe you keeps increasing every day."
"I think we’re beyond that now."
"True," she nodded. "Kong, is there any more information that you gathered?"
"Yes." Kong waved his hand to manifest some of the memories he had retrieved from his alternate self. Although broken, everyone present was able to piece together an overall view of the Divine Timeline. They learned about the Infinite Divine Court, its leader—the Highest Sovereign— and the people’s worship of him, which is so ingrained in their society and culture. They learned how vast an Empire the court is, with numerous Tribunals and Primordial Saints spanning hundreds of timelines.
More importantly, they learned about specific timelines that are considered priority resource hubs. Some materials can only be mined or created in specific timelines with unique rules. As such, the Infinite Divine Court will build military bases and watch over these timelines. More importantly, they learned that while it’s easy for people to enter and leave the Divine Timeline, the same cannot be said for resources and materials. As such, these timelines also served as hubs for replenishing other conquests when a commander needed assistance, resources, or reinforcements. As soon as they saw this information, everybody in the room had one thought: they should attack one of these hubs.
"While a tempting idea, the danger is too great," Qiyuan was the first to say. "These hubs are probably heavily protected, most likely with Saints."
"Not to mention how these people are probably waiting for an ambush," Wang Wei agreed. The Infinite Divine Court should be aware that its information has been sold and should expect any kind of invasion. Adding the fact that their group has no experience in timeline invasion, any attack would be suicide.
"Could we at least invade Timeline D8765H?" Ye Guang asked. He seemed unwilling to give up all these resources. Wang Wei glanced at him, wondering what was so important about this timeline.
"The Divine Manufacturing Division finished researching the enemy’s puppets. While the runes and refining technique can be replicated, the ore used as the primary material is beyond our ability to create. Timeline D8765H seems to be where that ore originated from," Qiyuan explained.
’That’s my wife,’ Wang Wei thought proudly.
"We alone cannot successfully attack their base," Maitreya stated. "Not to mention we still need to defend our home."
Ye Guang sighed. Since the Saint has already decided, there is nothing he can do. These thoughts hadn’t finished flashing through his mind when a horrifying aura descended on the room. Everyone — including Maitreya — felt breathless, and before they could react, someone else stood in front of everyone.
