Chapter 167: Who Arranged The Engagement? Does He Have A Death Wish?
The Night Bar.
It was the most mysterious bar in the International Association.
It was also the primary base for Number One Intelligence Agency. Nearly all the powers wished to have this agency for their own. However, these people had never even met the guy behind the agency before. There was no way any of them could gain control of the group.
Qu Yan knew Su Huiqing needed to settle some serious business, and so led Qing Zi over to the dance floor.
Su Huiqing followed Apollo to the bar counter.
She tapped the countertop and spoke to the bartender. “Give me your signature drink.”
“The same for me,” Apollo said.
Two signature drinks were soon placed before them. The liquid was a gradient of colors and looked very lovely.
“Everything is in here.” Su Huiqing took a sip before tossing a thumb drive on the counter.
“This is…” Apollo downed his drink, feeling the liquid burn his throat.
But the fire in his eyes raged even hotter as he gazed at the thumb drive.
“I have already virtually tested a nuclear explosion experiment.” Su Huiqing indifferently held her drink, utterly unconcerned about the effects that her words would have on Apollo. “It is probably powerful enough to destroy an entire island.”
Apollo tightened his grip on the thumb drive.
With this new weapon, their power would be significantly magnified. “I will transfer you the rest of the money tomorrow.”
“No hurry.” Su Huiqing glanced at him with slightly raised eyebrows. “Transfer the money after you have constructed it and run tests on it.”
“I trust you.” Apollo waved away her words. “There’s no need to wait.”
“As you wish.” Su Huiqing didn’t care when the money would be transferred to her. She glanced sideways at him, still swirling the glass in her hand. “But I have a request.”
Apollo was slightly taken aback. “Tell me.”
Su Huiqing smiled devilishly. “You cannot sell this weapon to the Su Family on Unknown Island.”
Apollo thought that a request by the Queen of Mercenaries should be challenging to fulfill. He never expected such a simple criteria.
The Su Family?
He narrowed his eyes as he watched Su Huiqing’s lovely face before lowering his gaze and falling into deep thought.
There were rumors that Su S was one of the Su Family people…
Lifting his eyes again.
A tall, strapping figure emerged from a dark corner of the bar and headed their way. Apollo snapped out of his thoughts and raised his empty drink. “That fellow is here.”
Apollo was referring to Dugu Yusheng.
The Demon Concentration Camp’s Intelligence Agency Chief.
In reality, no one outside of the Demon Concentration Camp knew of Dugu Yusheng’s name. And only a few within the Camp had met him in person.
If not for the fact that Dugu Yusheng had caught wind of news of Su Huiqing, he would not have come.
Su Huiqing didn’t look in that direction as her cell phone vibrated.
There was a message: Where are you?
A simple question which looked just so cold and unfriendly.
Su Huiqing was momentarily taken aback, before typing a reply. “Night Bar.”
Yu Shijin saw her reply and extinguished his cigarette. He typed back with one hand: I am at your school gates. I am coming over right now. Come out and meet me.”
The Night Bar was just a few streets away from Monster University.
There was no such thing as traffic jams in the International Association.
Three minutes would be more than enough.
Su Huiqing pursed her lips on receiving his text. She kept her cell phone and placed her drink on the counter.
Her action gave pause to Apollo. “Dugu is not here yet, and you are already leaving?”
“I have something on.” Su Huiqing tucked one hand in her pocket and smiled at Apollo. “We will speak again next time.”
Heavens knew that meeting Su Huiqing was even more difficult than meeting Dugu.
Apollo didn’t know when he would meet her again.
Dugu Yusheng wandered over only after Su Huiqing disappeared through the door. He had the bartender mix him a signature drink.
He had clearly no idea what he had just missed.
Apollo lit a cigarette. “Have you been busy lately?”
“I have been spending all my time investigating news from Unknown Island.” Even with his face lowered, Dugu Yusheng’s good looks could not be concealed. His tone was mild. “It wouldn’t be called Unknown Island if news about it could be easily traced.”
“Unknown Island is now a headless dragon, and many people are targeting them.” Apollo flicked the ash from his cigarette with a low chuckle.
Dugu Yusheng kept silent at this.
His dark eyes hardened as he took a sip of this drink. He tossed a piece of paper on the counter and raised his brows mockingly. “They think too highly of themselves.”
Of the entire International Association, Unknown Island was the most challenging area to control.
Until this day, only one person was able to rule that island.
Apollo suddenly smirked. “Do you know who was sitting here right before you came?”
Dugu Yusheng lifted his eyes nonchalantly.
Apollo looked at him as he continued in a soft voice. “Su Huiqing.”
Dugu Yusheng’s pupils dilated. He stared at Apollo, his eyes turning icy-cold.
He then banged his glass down on the counter and dashed out the door.
After he left, Apollo placed the cigarette between his lips and picked up the piece of paper left behind by Dugu Yusheng. He knew this was the kind of paper used by Dugu Yusheng to write down information gathered.
There was a sentence on it.
Apollo read it out word by word. “With the Queen of Mercenaries gone from this world, who will once again dominate Unknown Island.”
—
Su Huiqing left the bar and stood on the opposite side of the road.
She messaged: I have come out.”
A black car came to a stop right beside her.
Su Huiqing glanced up.
A long, lean figure with his hand casually propped up on the car door. His chiselled face was slightly lowered, his pitch-black eyes cold and harsh. He also glanced up at the same time, quietly looking over at her.
Yu Shijin didn’t appear to have changed at all. He seemed as cold and aloof as always.
But Su Huiqing had grown nearly 10cm over the past year.
She had always been skinny, and her physique became even more slender with that growth.
The lights spun.
Her cell phone was still in her hand. She had been messaging him just a second earlier.
White shirt, black hair, slightly tilted head and a wicked curl at the corners of his lips.
Those black eyes were lucid and distant.
Su Huiqing gave a light smile and called out in a low voice. “Brother Yu.”
Her voice was on the chilly side as she purposely kept it low. Nevertheless, it harbored a particular flavor to it, with a slight lilt toward the end.
Yu Shijin narrowed his eyes, which glinted profoundly.
He leaned over and opened the door to the passenger side. “Get in.”
“Alright.” Su Huiqing put her cell phone back in her pocket.
In the rearview mirror, a tall, strapping figure emerged from the doorway of the Night Bar. He was the kind of person who would look outstanding in any crowd.
Su Huiqing narrowed her eyes. She recognized Dugu Yusheng.
She also knew he was looking for her.
She undid her seatbelt, but before she could get out of the car, Yu Shijin held her shoulder.
“Don’t bother about it.” He slowly put on his own seatbelt. His lowered eyes were somewhat cold. “It’s not the right time for you to alight.”
His words held a deeper meaning than that.
Su Huiqing paused. Nevertheless, she knew it was indeed not the right time for her to get out of the car.
As part of the Intelligence Agency, Dugu Yusheng was a dangerous man.
“Have you eaten dinner?” Yu Shijin steered the car onto the highway.
Su Huiqing still remembered the fact that he knew about her code name. Nonetheless, she just casually placed her hands behind her head. “No, I only had a drink.”
“Just as well, I haven’t either.” Yu Shijin frowned slightly before adding. “You are underage.”
Su Huiqing completely ignored him.
The car came to a stop at the living quarters beside the university.
Yu Shijin opened the door with his key.
Su Huiqing surveyed the house before leaning against the glass door to the kitchen. She pointed inside. “Don’t tell me you invited me here just to eat rice.”
Yu Shijin’s eyes darkened at her words.
He changed his shoes and under Su Huiqing’s disbelieving eyes, he rolled up his sleeves and entered the kitchen.
Su Huiqing was genuinely shocked.
She watched the person before her. He remained as elegant and aloof as always, even when standing before the stove.
“How did you learn to cook?” Su Huiqing looked at the dishes spread across the dining table.
Yu Shijin’s expression frosted over as he clenched his jaws. “You don’t know?!”
The atmosphere grew heavy.
Su Huiqing never expected him to have such a significant reaction.
Luckily, Yu Shijin’s cell phone rang at this moment, breaking the tension. He pursed his lips and brought over some bowls and chopsticks. Softening his tone, he said, “Let’s eat.”
However, he went out holding his cell phone.
As he walked, a chilly aura started to gather around his furrowed brows.
He put on his earpiece and spoke in an icy voice. “Speak.”
He then lit a cigarette and sighed softly.
She had no idea what he was so angry about.
Even across the phone, the chief detective could feel the exceptionally frosty tension. He spoke carefully. “City Lord sent a message that you should still go tomorrow since you are engaged to the Dugu Family.”
“Who made the engagement? Does he have a death wish?” Yu Shijin clenched his jaws, his expression turning hostile.
