Chapter 3700: Seeking Help

Chapter 3700: Seeking Help

"Island Lord, the allied forces... were completely wiped out..."

Regin’s mind buzzed, and he shot to his feet, "What did you say?"

"The false god’s followers were far stronger than we anticipated. The joint force of the three islands was annihilated."

Xavier’s voice was hoarse. He had accidentally pulled at his wound from agitation and gasped a few times before forcing himself to continue through the pain.

"The false god’s followers summoned a large number of terrifying monsters from the teleportation gate. The allied defensive barrier could not hold at all and was breached within minutes! Including Qu Jiuge and Alaric, every god servant who took part in the battle was killed. I only barely survived because I was lucky."

Regin could hardly believe it. He stood there frozen.

Only after a long moment did he recover from the shock and shout sternly, "Didn’t you say there was a ninety percent chance of success?!"

Xavier felt bitter inside.

He did not know where his confidence had come from back then, either.

Forget ninety percent. Even if all three main islands had truly sent out their full combined forces, they probably would not have had even a ten percent chance of winning.

"This subordinate... this subordinate misjudged the enemy’s strength... The combat power of those summoned creatures far exceeded expectations..."

"Useless trash!"

Regin trembled with rage.

Ninety percent chance? Bullshit!

He had never imagined that the elite allied force of the three main islands would not even last an hour.

What now?

Although he had already ordered his subordinates to begin preparing the divine awakening ritual at once, even with the most optimistic estimate, the awakening ritual would take at least twenty-four hours to complete.

Regin asked, "Where is the false god’s fleet now? What position are they in?"

Xavier gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, "Unknown. They may still be clearing the battlefield, but their previous heading was toward our Sea God Island. Island Lord, please make preparations as soon as possible."

Regin was furious.

Prepare?

At a time like this, how was he supposed to prepare?

All of his grand plans had turned to dust.

Forget dominating the three main islands—now he could not even protect his own island!

Regin suppressed the fury in his heart and said in a low voice, "There is not enough time. Is there any way to delay the false god fleet’s arrival at Sea God Island?"

Xavier felt miserable inside.

What could he possibly do?

Send people to die just to slow the false god’s fleet?

Wait!

Lyanna!

They had a way!

Xavier immediately said, "Sir, Lyanna and the other one mentioned to me before that they can awaken the divine statue within twelve hours."

Twelve hours?

Still not enough.

But at least it was twice as fast as twenty-four!

"Men!"

Regin no longer hesitated and shouted sternly, "Men! Go to the guest chambers and invite God Servant Lyanna and that gentleman here! Immediately! There must not be the slightest discourtesy!"

...

Inside the guest room.

Following Fang Heng’s instructions, Lyanna sat quietly in the room and waited.

Just moments ago, a burst of noisy commotion had come from the harbor beyond the balcony.

It seemed the news of the allied army’s defeat had already reached the main island.

As she was thinking, a spatial fluctuation suddenly appeared in the middle of the room without warning.

Fang Heng stepped out from the ripples in space.

At the same time, the split body beside the bed silently shattered and dispersed into specks of light.

Lyanna immediately rose and dropped to one knee.

"Your Majesty."

Fang Heng rolled his neck and said, "The trouble at the front line has been dealt with. Get ready. The Island Lord should be coming to us very soon."

As soon as he finished speaking, hurried footsteps sounded outside the guest room, followed by a respectful knock at the door.

"God Servant Lyanna, the Island Lord requests your presence!"

The person outside spoke respectfully, but there was unmistakable urgency in his voice.

They came quite fast.

Looks like the pressure had truly been applied.

Fang Heng chuckled and said, "Let’s go. Let’s hear what Island Lord Regin has to say."

The two pushed open the guest room door. Two priests of the Tide of Eternal Night were already waiting outside, their attitude completely different from before. Both were bent deeply at the waist, and their tone was even more respectful.

"God servant Lyanna, sir, the Island Lord awaits the two of you in the central temple. Please follow us."

Lyanna nodded lightly and followed the priests through the corridor toward the central temple.

The atmosphere along the way was completely different from before.

There were clearly more patrols on the island, and everyone was visibly tense. Occasionally, when someone looked up and saw Fang Heng and Lyanna passing by, they would instinctively glance at them a few more times.

At the temple steps, Xavier was already waiting in advance. When he saw Fang Heng and Lyanna approach, he took the initiative to greet them.

"You two, thank you for waiting."

Lyanna looked up at Xavier and suddenly had the urge to laugh.

Half his face was covered in dried blood scabs. His chest was wrapped in layer after layer of bandages, and his right arm was also bandaged and hung around his neck. He looked utterly miserable.

Fang Heng glanced at Xavier, a faint smile curling at the corner of his lips as he said, "God Servant Xavier, it seems the battle at the front line did not go very smoothly."

The smile on Xavier’s face stiffened for a moment.

D*mn it!

Now was not the time to fall out with him.

Xavier warned himself to stay calm. Suppressing the anger in his heart, he forced out two dry laughs, stepped aside, and gestured with both hands.

"Please, both of you, inside. We can speak further within."

....

Inner hall of the central temple.

Regin rose from his seat and personally guided Fang Heng and Lyanna to their seats. He then ordered tea to be served, his attitude far better than before.

After the tea was brought in, Regin could not help but speak first.

"The two of you, to be frank, something unexpected happened on the front line."

Regin said in a deep voice, "The combined fleet of the three islands encountered a group of unknown summoned creatures while intercepting the false god fleet. Our prior intelligence was severely lacking. The number and combat strength of those creatures far exceeded our estimates, resulting in the front line being forced into a hasty engagement and suffering devastating losses."

"Including Qu Jiuge of the Sea of Nature and Alaric of the Sea of Berserk, the god servants who took part in the battle... not one survived."

"After discussing it with Xavier, we believe the time has come to activate the god-tier divine statue."

Lyanna secretly nodded to herself.

Just as Fang Heng had predicted, the Island Lord had felt the pressure and was now taking the initiative to request the awakening of the divine statue.

Lyanna was just about to agree when Fang Heng, beside her, spoke first.

"We understand. But did the Island Lord not say before that the power circulation within the statue was still sluggish and required several days of ritual guidance and preparation? Why is that suddenly no longer necessary?"

The hall fell silent for two seconds.

The smile on Regin’s face nearly faltered. His throat moved, but whatever he wanted to say did not come out.

Looking at Regin’s expression, Lyanna nearly laughed out loud.

She had dealt with Regin several times before and knew exactly how cunning he was. Among the three Island Lords, Regin was the most calculating and the most scheming. She had often heard her own Island Lord curse him as an old fox.

She had never expected to see that old fox repeatedly forced into embarrassment by Fang Heng.

It truly vented a great deal of frustration.

Regin was extremely displeased, but he understood clearly that there was no more time. Lyanna and Fang Heng understood the divine statue extremely well. Without their assistance, Sea God Island simply had no way to activate the divine statue within such a short time.
