Chapter 3101: Honestly, You’re Quite Talented at This
After arriving at the large shopping mall Ning Shu called Gong Fu and told Gong Fu her location.
While at it she conveyed the method of exchange.
Gong Rong looked at the busy and polished large shopping mall, filled with international luxury brands, where people were coming and going. He had a complicated expression on his face.
“Why are we in my family’s shopping mall?”
“If something happens in the mall, the one who suffers the losses will be your mall, naturally.”
This shopping mall was an asset under the Gong family’s name. If there were any shootouts or violent confrontations, it would be the Gong family who bore the consequences.
Since it’d be their home ground, they’d naturally have more concerns and reservations.
Gong Rong suddenly smiled. “Honestly, you’re quite talented at this. Why are you so adept at using such underhanded and shadowy tactics?”
Ning Shu smiled sweetly. “Thank you for the compliment.”
“Our Gong family can afford the losses, though,” Gong Rong said proudly.Ning Shu raised her index finger and waved it. “No, no. After you were kidnapped—no, after you ran off with me for a joyride, your sister was given an emergency appointment to take over the conglomerate.
“Of course there are people in the company who won’t accept her. The slightest mistake she makes will be seized upon. She can’t afford that.”
Ning Shu sat comfortably on a bench. “If you hadn’t gone off traveling the world with me, your original plan was probably to gradually pave the way for your sister to take full control of the conglomerate.”
He must’ve planned to use the rest of his life to build an unshakable throne for his sister.
But plans never kept up with reality. Xu Xin, one of the players in the game, had sacrificed her soul to change what’d happened.
Ning Shu was doing everything she could to complete her task.
The entrustor’s mother was the main focus of the task. Even if she completed everything else, the overall completion rate would still only reach fifty percent, should she lose the entrustor’s mother.
It would still count as a failed task.
Everything Ning Shu was doing now was for the sake of the entrustor’s mother.
Gong Rong narrowed his eyes, shielding their bright gleam, and sat quietly beside Ning Shu.
The two of them didn’t speak. The atmosphere wasn’t tense, nor was it relaxed. It was simply… neutral.
Suddenly, Ning Shu asked, “Why have you been cross-dressing all this time? Is it because of your condition?”
Gong Rong gave a neutral hum of acknowledgment.
Ning Shu checked her watch. It was already 8:30. What was that girl doing?
She’d made it clear beforehand: no police involvement. Otherwise, she’d detonate the bombs hidden in the mall.
The bombs were pure bluff, just a scare tactic.
Gong Fu finally arrived, fashionably late. She was dressed sharply and exuded a commanding presence.
Several tall, burly men followed behind her. With a sweep of her spiritual consciousness, Ning Shu detected the guns tucked at their waists.
Two of the men were holding up a woman with a pale face.
Ning Shu recognized the face from her memories. She immediately extended her spiritual consciousness to probe through the woman’s skin to examine her condition.
The entrustor’s mother’s kidneys were a dull yellow, mottled in color. They looked more like stones than living tissue.
Ning Shu stood and waved. “Over here, over here…”
Even Gong Rong couldn’t help twitching at the corners of his mouth. Was this what a hostage exchange was supposed to look like?
It looked more like she was waiting to go shopping with a good friend.
Gong Fu spotted her brother first. His long, elegant hair had been shaved off, and she frowned involuntarily at the sight. The look she gave Ning Shu was far from friendly.
She walked over, and Ning Shu pulled Gong Rong along to meet her halfway.
“Your person’s completely unharmed,” Ning Shu said cheerfully as she pushed Gong Rong towards Gong Fu. Then she stepped forward and pulled the entrustor’s mother away from the two hulking bodyguards.
“Mom.” Ning Shu supported the woman. Her face was deathly pale as she forced a weak smile at Ning Shu.
Ning Shu crouched down and carried her on her back. Just then, a glint of metal flashed. Someone was trying to stab her.
Ning Shu dodged the knife and pulled out a device with a button.
“If I press this,” she warned. “The mall’s going to blow sky-high.”
Gong Fu’s expression shifted. Her voice trembled with suppressed rage. “Let her go.”
While carrying the entrustor’s mother on her back, Ning Shu bolted. She focused her strength in her lower abdomen as she sprinted to a taxi waiting by the curb.
She quickly got Mother Xu into the backseat, and then slammed the car door shut.
