Death… And Me

Chapter 3893: The Last Two

Chapter 3893: The Last Two

Bugel’s Divine Sense immediately spread, looking for Wisfreya below and the tokens paired with her own. Sure enough, she did select a bunch of kids.

The last event would have everyone’s cultivation suppressed to the Core and Soul Fusion Realm. However, it is still a fact that this event has a lot of older and younger participants. Anyone would think that having a few late teenagers would be better than some twelve or thirteen-year-old kids. In a certain way, that was a method to judge whether the captains had what it takes to convince the right participants to join them and avoid those who were too young.

Yet, here Wisfreya was, pairing herself with a bunch of thirteen-year-old kids, which included a Spirit and Two Demons. Wasn’t that the same as asking to fail at the very start?

’Wisfreya, just what were you thinking?!’ Bugel, who hasn’t contacted Wisfreya during the entire event, couldn’t hold back anymore. He could be said to be her biggest backer in this country, after all.

Wisfreya already expected that, smiling in the direction of the main building. ’President Bugel, you prepared this last event so I wouldn’t need to show my bloodline abilities but would still win, didn’t you?’

Bugel didn’t deny that. ’Obviously. So what?’

Wisfreya continued. ’Then leave it to me. If you want me to win this Gathering in the most dazzling way possible, this is the right choice. You will see.’

Bugel’s doubts were obvious for anyone to see. He recognized two of the members that Wisfreya selected. They were the two kids she met back in the second event. They had some kind of power that managed to stop Wisfreya for a moment, so he admitted they were not normal. However, considering the contents of the last event, what use would these youngsters have?

’Are you absolutely sure you can win?’ Bugel took a deep breath.

Wisfreya shook her head, though. ’President Bugel, I will never be absolutely certain in this kind of situation. Only idiots would do such a thing. However, I am at least 99% sure, which is pretty much there.’

Bugel narrowed his eyes. Truth be told, even if Wisfreya had accepted the members his country selected for her, he wouldn’t say he was 99% sure she was going to win. 90% was his best bet. For her to say she was 99% was truly hard to believe. ’Sigh... Alright. You have a heart that trusts our country, so our country might as well trust you back. In the worst case, your debut to the world will have to wait a little more, that’s all.’

Wisfreya held great respect for Bugel and was happy to hear his approval. ’I will not disappoint you, Grampa!’

Bugel’s mouth twitched. ’Who the hell is your Grampa?! I’m still very young, mind you! Now, you have only selected seven participants. You still need two more to complete your team of ten. Stop wasting time and find the other two. If you want, you can take Gifutie and Xunatfair. Those two will definitely perform well.’

Wisfreya shook her head. ’There is no need. They can join any other team they want. I have other plans.’

Bugel nodded, accepting his fate.

And so, the two of them finished their conversation, and time continued to pass.

Who were the seven other participants Wisfreya selected? Obviously, they were the twins’ group. Roan already said it. Their main objective is to make a name for themselves. Since this last event would have ten winners, the best option was to have them all in the same team.

It was even better, as it looked like it was Wisfreay who put together that team, not the twins’ group. For those looking from the outside, it was all Wisfreya’s doing. There would be no suspicion there. Most were simply thinking Wisfreya was too full of herself and believed she could drag that team to the top on her own. Naturally, many other captains were very happy with her decision and now dismissed her team as a threat.

Wisfreya gathered with Roan and the others. "Alright, this should be fine, right?"

Roan nodded. "It is."

"What about the last two?" Zangeshu couldn’t help but ask.

Roan waved his hand. "Just wait until the last minute. We will find two participants by then."

Wisfreya obviously understood what Roan meant. Basically, they would take into their team the last two leftovers, who were probably the worst ones in this entire field.

Luck is also a kind of strength, some believe. Thus, you would always have those who managed to get this far simply because they were in the right place at the right time, avoiding most risks.

That was exactly the case for Gakrid and Rovitel. They were both fifteen years old, but still in the Core and Soul Fusion Realm, which wasn’t anything worth talking about. Pretty much anyone in this place could easily beat the two down. Sure, back from where they came from, they probably were considered to be strong, but here, they truly had to thank all their gods for being able to get this far.

Unfortunately for them, all the videos of every single participant were analysed by the various powers, and it became pretty obvious that these two were among the weakest possible remaining participants. That’s why no team wanted those two at all. There were more in the same situation as them, but even among those considered weak, Gakrid and Rovitel were considered the worst and were left out.

Now, without another choice, they could only look for the only team that still needed members, which they thought would be as weak as themselves.

"So, these two?" Wisfreya suddenly appeared with the rest of her group.

Roan nodded slightly. "They are the only two remaining, so it will have to be them."

Back in the main building, Bugel was almost crying. How could he not have noticed the same thing? ’Just why is that girl making things even more difficult for herself?!’

The twins’ group obviously didn’t hear him. Wisfreya just called those two teenagers over. "Alright, you two, you are pretty lucky. Come over."

Everyone was quite surprised to see that. Truth be told, Wisfreya received countless Divine Sense Messages from participants wanting to join her team. Yet, she refused all of them. Roan insisted he wanted to take the worst two.

When asked why, he simply responded. "Because everyone else just thinks you will carry them with your strength. I have no interest in helping those who have no confidence in themselves. If we select the last two ignored idiots, they could be said to at least have luck on their side."

Gakrid and Rovitel were obviously shocked to see Wisfreya’s team being the only group with open slots. They even wondered whether they had used all the luck of their entire lives to get this result, and they were pretty fucking lucky already. Maybe they would be punished by the heavens later? That seemed very possible now.

"Are you coming or not?" Wisfreya asked with an annoyed expression, showing her token and waiting to pair it with theirs.

"Ah! Y-Yes! Right away!" Gakrid and Rovitel obviously rushed over.

And so, Wisfreya’s group was completed, the last one just as the one-hour mark arrived.

"Time’s up!" Bugel said to everyone, but he didn’t look as happy as he was before. No turning back anymore, though. "Send them over!"
