Death… And Me

Chapter 3870: Rean’s Friends!

Chapter 3870: Rean’s Friends!

Somewhere else, Rean was also walking leisurely, avoiding the elements and the storm. "Hum... I wonder if Trian is fine..."

Just like everyone else, Trian was also sent to some random location in this place, so Rean didn’t know how he was doing. But then again, Rean knew very well the transformation Trian went through in these last three years they trained together, so he wasn’t really worried.

Suddenly, Rean noticed something flying in his direction. He quickly took out his sword, rotating his body and striking back.

*Plang!*

He ended up parrying a knife of some kind. "I didn’t expect the storms to also create weapons..."

"Hehe!" Then, a small group of cultivators and demon beasts appeared, looking at Rean like they were at a prey. "You were quite good at managing to dodge that attack of mine. The knife I used is quite special, making it very hard to detect even with Divine Sense."

Rean ignored the guy, though, looking to the elemental storms above. "I wonder if it could create swords, sabers, and such, too. Just this knife won’t be of much use."

Seeing how they were disregarded entirely immediately infuriated the newcomers. "Get him! Don’t give him time to open his CD and escape!"

Rean sighed, shaking his head. "And here was I, trying to give you guys a chance to leave. I even pretended not to see you at all. Oh well, you can’t blame me now."

The cultivators and demon beasts were all from the same sect, which was quite surprising since the teleportations were random. It wasn’t hard to imagine why they were together, though. Rean could see the emblems on the clothes of the cultivators. They were from the Oifingas Sect, which was definitely one of the top ten powers in the Surute Region. They must have sent thousands of their disciples to take part in the gathering this time around. This small group of seven experts likely bumped into each other after teleporting and joined forces.

Ranged attacks rained over Rean, who used his normal Light Element Enhancement Skill to move fast as he dodged them all. However, Rean didn’t make it look too easy. Some of the attacks still brushed him, and one of them hit his shoulder slightly, causing a mild injury to appear.

Still, Rean had everything under control. Finally, he got close to one of his opponents, smiling. "Now them, I wonder if the others will still continue their attacks now that I’m this close to you."

All the while, the elemental storm never stopped, so the lightnings, fireballs, icicles, and others continued to appear here and there. While that group attacked Rean, they also had to pay attention not to get caught by those things. If they also had to split their focus to not hit their companion, that would make things dangerous for themselves. Yet...

*Bang, bang, bang!*

*arrghhh!*

The guy Rean had just caught was hit by one of his companions’ attacks while he tried to open a gap between him and Rean. "Glanton, you fucker!"

"Hahaha!" Glanton, one of the attackers, didn’t seem to care. "It’s your fault for staying close to this guy, Kuento. But don’t worry, even if you die, I’ll make sure to bury this guy with you."

Rean couldn’t help but release a little bit more of his power as he pursued Kuento, who desperately tried to get away. It was very clear that although they were from the same sect, they had no intention of helping each other. ’Well, that’s the cultivation world for you.’

But then, Rean had an idea, faintly smiling. He continued his pursuit, dodging everything to the ’best’ of his abilities, but always very close to Kuento. Rean purposely lured various attacks in his direction, dodging or parrying them to cause the attacks to fly in Kuento’s direction instead. Of course, he didn’t do it with all of them, just a tenth of the attacks or so. Otherwise, anyone would have noticed he was doing it on purpose.

Rean was like a maggot, glued to Kuento’s ass all the time, but seemingly never fast enough to catch Kuento outright. Kuento always used a burst of Divine Energy to pull away in the last moment, but he continued to suffer the attacks from his allies as they tried to hit Rean.

*Kabrum!*

Yet, there was finally a time Kuento failed to notice one of the storm’s lightning bolts, this one covered in fire. He was hit head-on, causing his entire body to catch fire instantly.

*arrrghhhh!*

Rean didn’t waste that chance.

’Death Style, Three Claws of the Dragon!’

The old and reliable Three Claws of the Dragon appeared again after not being used for quite some time.

*Swish, swish, swish!*

Rean’s swords cut Kuento into three parts, which fell to the ground and burned nonstop. Kuento died, just like that.

"This..." The others were taken aback. They indeed didn’t care if their attacks hit Kuento, but they didn’t expect Kuento to really die here. At most, Kuento would be forced to use his CD to escape, but he didn’t have that chance.

Rean was also close when the lightning struck, raising dust everywhere. However, he immediately charged out of it, quite a few parts of his body burnt by the aftermatch. Well, physically speaking, he was completely fine. It just didn’t look like it from the outside.

"Shit!" Glanton had a scare when he saw Rean rushing in his direction. Without thinking twice, he took flight and tried to put distance between himself and Rean.

"Glanton, no!" His other companions immediately shouted back, but it was too late!

*Puft!*

Before he could do anything, an icicle pierced his chest, and he dropped down like a fly.

Rean looked at that, mocking. "What an idiot! Flying in the middle of these elemental storms is suicide, didn’t they tell you?"

Yes, another big issue of the Infernal Plains was that the higher you were, the easier it was for the storms’ attacks to hit you. It was especially so since the formation over this place was controlling the storms and making them even worse. Glanton was just too focused on running away from Rean a second ago that he forgot that fact.

But he didn’t die straight away. Instead, he pulled out his CDs and selected the option to give up. A flash of silver light followed, and Glanton disappeared together with the icicle on his chest. Whether he would pull through it or not depended on the healing powers of his sect elders back in the capital.

Rean could have stopped it, but he already felt like he was bullying the kids, so he allowed Glanton to go.

*Zash, zash, bang!*

Of course, the others didn’t waste time and attacked Rean once again. But Rean didn’t go after them. Instead, with Glanton’s elimination, an oppening appeared on the encirclement around him, and he used it to flee! "It was good to meet you all and make friends, but I forgot I left my dog in the bath, so I have to go back to dry him. Farewell and good luck! Hahaha!"

And so, Rean darted away. He was just slightly faster than his attackers, but he could continue at that speed forever.

As for the Oifingas Sect disciples, they could only grit their teeth and give up after a short time of pursuit. They were still being targeted by the storms, after all.
