Chapter 1360: Breathing And Counting
Lu Lijun looked at Jiang Yuyan who was sleeping with her back facing him. She didn’t look bothered with him being next to her in bed.
He sighed, ‘After making me sleep here, she seems to sleep soundly. Well, she doesn’t feel anything for me so…why love is so tough when it should be the easiest thing to do. It doesn’t cost you anything to love back a person who loves you like crazy.’
In that mildly lit up room, Lu Lijun continued to look at the ceiling. ‘Due to the medicines, she must have fallen asleep.’ He thought about their situation, ‘So close but still so far.’ He looked at the small space between those two in the centre of the bed, ‘Such a small distance but might take an eternity to cross it. If I get closer to her will she mind or let me get closer? Or will she again think I am elder brother? She seems to have softened towards me instead of acting cold. Is this change because of that day’s accident or does she feel something for me now?”
He closed his eyes while having so many things in mind. After a while when he was about to drift to sleep finally, he sensed light movement in bed. He opened his eyes and looked at Jiang Yuyan who was still sleeping facing her back to him. He was sure there was a movement from her side.
He moved towards her to check and placed his hand on her shoulder, “Yuyan….” he stopped as he realized she was shivering a little. It was not due to the cold but she was having a nightmare again.
He moved completely closed so that he could see her face. She had clutched the pillow under her head and tried to bury her face in it. Her forehead was creased and she looked like on the verge of crying.
He moved the hair strands away from her face and called for her, “Yuyan.”
As if she had heard him, she stopped shivering and opened her eyes as she was out of the nightmare and was breathing deeply.
“Yuyan, are you okay?” he asked. She looked at him with her puzzled eyes as if she could not get what was happening.
“It’s fine now,” she heard him again.
Not saying a word, she turned a little and hugged him like a kid as if she didn’t wish to let him go. Lu Lijun lay down and let her hug him as he hugged her back.
Such reactions from her after she had a nightmare were nothing new for him and he knew how to calm her. He could only think about whatever she saw in her nightmares, it must be really scary for her to turn her like this who has been strong for so many years. He wondered what kind of nightmares she exactly had and wished to ask her someday.
When she felt the warmth from him and his scent that made her feel alive, only then she felt calm. But she can’t seem to fall asleep again. Seeing her moving, he asked, “What happened?”
Still burying her face in his chest, she shook her head saying nothing.
“Are you still scared?” he asked.
She shook her head again.
“Was it a scary dream?” he asked.
She nodded. He looked down at her head as he caressed it and asked, “What was it? Can You tell me?”
She shook her head to say she didn’t wish to tell him but he was sure it must have really scared her.
“Fine,” he said gently, “I am here. You can sleep.”
She didn’t reply and stayed quiet but Lu Lijun could feel that she was not asleep as he could feel her lashes fluttering and softly brushing against the exposed skin of his chest.
“Are you not able to sleep?” he asked.
She shook her head.
Lu Lijun smiled slightly at her reactions. Every other time she acted so strong but whenever she had nightmares, she was no better than a sweet little kid.
“Close your eyes and try to,” he suggested.
“I..can’t…I don’t want…nightmare,” she mumbled in a very low voice and clutched his shirt.
‘What did she even have a nightmare about? That accident in the past? Or what happened with her when she was in the USA or is there something else?’
When he was busy guessing about her nightmares, he heard her mumbling something as she breathed deeply. He looked down towards her where he could only get a view of her head, “What are you doing?”
She stopped and replied in a low voice, “Breathing deeply and counting numbers to distract from thinking about the nightmare,” and she continued doing it.
Lu Lijun felt like laughing as he had never seen her acting so sweet and innocent. “Who told you to do this?” he asked.
“An Tian,” she answered and continued.
“I know a trick to distract the mind. Do you want to try it?” he asked.
Continuing her activity, she looked up at him. Such a cute sight it was and Lu Lijun continued to see her as she breathed deeply and counted it after exhaling while she waited for him to answer.
Lu Lijun could not stop being greedy and asked looking into her eyes, “Do you really want to know it?” His voice sounded a little different and the way he looked at her showed his intentions.
Jiang Yuyan stopped her activity as she gulped and nodded to his question.
Intently looking at her, lowered his face towards hers as his hand held her face at the chin to make her move her face a little up. Slowly ever so slowly his lips touched hers and he whispered, “I am sure this will help you distract your mind.”
Jiang Yuyan stayed still and waited for him to do something that he intended to do. She felt his moist lips brushing against hers as he slowly captured her lips into his. His hot breath made her feel her own temperature was about to rise and her body was turning needy.
