Chapter 1258: A Well Delivered Gift

Chapter 1258: A Well Delivered Gift

The first guard turned to look at Izroth and said, "My apologies, but we do not have the authority to grant your entry. I have sent word of the arrival of an Apothecary Guild Honorary Elder to the Formation Master Guild Elder on duty. If you would wait for a moment, we should receive word soon. I ask for your understanding."

Izroth gave a small nod and replied, "Some things must be done in a proper order. Since you have your orders, naturally, I will not fault you for following them. I will wait."

"I thank you for your understanding. Since it may be uncomfortable to wait here, I will have my junior guide you a more suitable place." The first guard said respectfully.

He then instructed the third guard, "Junior, escort our honored guest to the VIP waiting area. Make sure they are properly settled before you return and-"

"That won’t be necessary!" A voice sounded from a several meters away.

’Hm?’

Izroth turned to see a man who appeared to be in his early forties. He possessed short dark blonde hair and a pair of pale gray eyes that briefly glared at Izroth. He wore a set of robes that gave away his identity as a member of the Formation Master Guild. Attached to his shoulder was a Formation Master badge, which revealed that he was a grade seven Formation Master.

Being a grade seven Formation Master meant that he was someone capable of setting up expert-ranked magic formations in the High and possibly even Grand tiers. It also meant that his status in the Formation Master Guild was well solidified. That said, Izroth was certain that he had never run into this person before today.

Nevertheless, based on the man’s tone and the way he glared at him, Izroth did not believe that they spoke up with good intentions toward him.

Izroth observed the man with his Divine Appraisal.

’Enrhivers... So, he is from one of the noble families of Danaharpe. I suppose that explains why he seems to hostile toward me despite it being our first time crossing paths. In terms of power and influence, the Enrhivers family are a step below the Duvelle family. From what I know, the Enrhivers family and Duvelle family are close allies. Well, rather than allies, it’s more like they serve the Duvelle family as vassals. Since he’s behaving this way, it’s safe to assume my name has already spread among the noble families of Danaharpe.’

"Formation Master Rionso-" The first guard started; however, he was quickly interrupted.

"That’s Elder Rionso! Hmph, this is why I can’t commoners! Even the most basics of common sense is lost on you lot!" Rionso scoffed with a sharp gaze.

"My apologies, Elder Rionso. This young man is an Honorary Elder of the Apothecary Guild. I sent word-" The first guard tried to explain.

"Enough! I don’t care who he is, this person is not allowed to set foot in my Formation Master Guild! Send him away!" Rionso said as he dismissed the first guard’s words.

The first guard furrowed his brows with a troubled expression. He was just a simple guard. He could not afford to offend Rionso nor an Honorary Elder of the Apothecary Guild. However, while Rionso was not an official Elder of the Formation Master Guild, he was still an Interim Elder. He had all the right to deny someone entry into the Formation Master Guild.

"Oh? For what reason do you wish to turn me away?" Izroth asked.

"Do I need a reason? If I say you are not welcomed, then you are not welcomed!" Rionso stated with his nose upturned.

"I am an Honorary Elder of the Apothecary Guild. Are you sure that you can afford to bear the consequences that will follow?" Izroth said coldly with a distant gaze.

It was one thing to deny him entry into the Formation Master Guild building; however, it was a different matter to do so in such a bold and thoughtless way. Rionso’s words and actions were the same as slapping the face of the Apothecary Guild and not putting them in his eyes.

The Formation Master Guild was undoubtedly a strong force. But, their influence paled in comparison to the top three profession guilds.

The Apothecary Guild, Alchemist Guild and Blacksmith Guild—these three profession guilds held an unparalleled amount of power and influence compared to the other profession guilds. It was to the point that none of the other profession guilds would risk offending them unless it were under the most extreme of circumstances.

"Honorary Elder? Hmph, just a brat who is still ignorant of the way the world works. It is important to know who you can and cannot afford to offend. Blame your own ignorance and foolishness for offending the wrong person." Rionso said with a smirk.

He then declared to the guards, "Remember, from this moment on, under no circumstances is this person is allowed entry into the Formation Master Guild- No, in fact, he is no longer allowed to set foot inside the Formation Master District. If I catch a glimpse of him near this place again, I will hold the guards personally responsible."

"Junior, I will escort them away. Stay here and remain vigilant." The first guard stated as he approached Izroth.

The third guard seemed to want to say something; however, he fell silent and stayed at his post.

"I am Haku. If you will follow me, I will escort you." The first guard said as he motioned his hand away from the Formation Master Guild building.

"Since I am not welcome here, so be it. I just hope you do not forget your own words." Izroth said as he turned to walk away from the Formation Master Guild building.

The first guard, Haku, followed in front of Izroth.

Rionso smiled victorious as he watched Izroth being escorted away by Haku.

"I don’t know what he did to offend the Head of the Duvelle family, but I should be grateful. We were told that as long as we disrupt and limit that brat’s actions in Danaharpe, we could request a suitable favor. It is not often those stingy guys hand out favors. Now, as long as I play my cards right, my family will have no choice but to make a move on my behalf. Once that happens, I will no longer be a mere Interim Elder. I can finally become a real Elder of the Formation Master Guild." Rionso thought to himself with an expression full of glee.

"Haven’t opened the door yet?!" Rionso scolded as he glared at the third guard.

"M-My apologies, Elder Rionso." The third guard said as he hurriedly opened the door of the Formation Master Guild building.

"Hmph! If I have to ask next time, you can forget your pay for a week." Rionso stated as he walked through the door.

...

Meanwhile, as Haku accompanied Izroth, there was an air of awkwardness and anxiousness that surrounded him.

"I am truly sorry for this mess. Formation Master Rionso is known for being hard to deal with, but he seemed to be unusually hard on you. If it were just me I had to consider, I could have spoken up on your behalf. But, I cannot drag my juniors down with me for the sake of my own pride. I can only apologize for my lack of ability." Haku sighed regretfully.

In truth, Haku, or rather all the guards for the matter, did not like Rionso. From his unbearable behavior and arrogant attitude to how he looked down on them for simply existing—there were no shortage of times they wanted to teach him a lesson. However, Rionso was not only a high ranking Formation Master, he was also a noble from the Enrhivers family. Offending him was no different than cutting off their future career paths for good in Danaharpe.

"It is no simple task to swallow your pride for the sake of others. That aside, do you truly think a mere Interim Elder is enough to make me retreat? Even if it was the Head of the Formation Master Guild, unless I choose to leave willingly, there is nothing they can do. Besides, I should be thankful that I met someone foolish enough to chase me away in such a way." Izroth replied in a carefree manner.

’I was wondering how I could gain access to the higher floors of the Formation Master Guild’s library. After all, even with my status as an Honorary Elder of the Apothecary Guild, I probably won’t be allowed further than the first floor or two. Who would have thought such a gift would fall into my lap?’
