My unbelievable life with CATS (Con and Thief system)

Chapter 75: The last piece of fragment

Dylan, with no other choice, materialized and raised both of his hands. Karl, seeing him, was immediately surprised.

"Oh, it's you, Maya's friend," he muttered, smiling.

Dylan didn't respond; he just stared intently at Karl. Then, two of Karl's men, wearing the black military-like uniforms, opened the deposit box as directed by Karl, but when they opened it, the sword was no longer there.

"The sword isn't here, boss," one of his men said.

Karl looked furious. He immediately walked up to Dylan, raised his hand, and squeezed Dylan's cheeks.

"Where is the sword, huh?" he asked loudly.

"Heh... you think I'll just give the sword to you like that?" Dylan asked, mocking him.

"Slap," Karl immediately slapped Dylan so hard that Dylan felt dizzy and lightheaded, but the smile didn't vanish from Dylan's face, and he continued to stare sharply at Karl.

"Hand it over, or I'll kill them all. I won't hesitate to kill Maya, my adopted daughter," Karl said.

"I will hand over the sword, and I'll even hand over everything. But I want a trade. Let's arrange an exchange, how about that?" Dylan asked, proposing his idea.

"You think you're in a position to bargain, huh?" Karl yelled.

"Suit yourself. If you kill all my family, I won't give those fragments to you, and I'll finish all of you off. Just choose which one you want," Dylan shot back.

[CROWS: Don't be rash, Karl, we can kill them later. Take him.]

"Hmph [turns to look at his men] Take him," Karl replied firmly.

"Yes, boss," several of his men replied.

Immediately, a man in a soldier's uniform pushed Dylan from behind, making Dylan walk. As they exited the vault, Dylan used his body double skill and immediately vanished when the guards were distracted. He quickly moved to the side to escape.

"CATS, I'll leave it to you. As soon as you arrive and join the others, let me know your location," Dylan said.

[Yes. I have already provided the location where the final fragment is located.]

"Okay, I'm going there now," Dylan replied.

"Bwooom," two screens opened on Dylan's right and left. The screen on the right showed the view of the clone being controlled by CATS. The screen on the left displayed a map showing the location of the final Dark Eye fragment. Dylan immediately took a breath and exhaled, his eyes sharpening. He immediately ran while teleporting into the emergency stairwell to get back to the roof.

"The building is not far from here... good," Dylan muttered to himself while running up the stairs and glancing at his map.

Dylan glanced at the map on the right. He saw his clone being led out through a side door and put into a car. Then, a few men covered the clone's head with cloth, but it had no effect on Dylan at all because CATS was using the newly acquired all seeing eye skill.

Dylan smiled and continued running up the stairs while monitoring the situation. After reaching the roof, he immediately ran to the edge and jumped, then fired his grappler to swing. After that, he deployed his glider to soar toward the building, which was only two blocks away from the bank.

After landing on the roof, Dylan immediately entered the air vent and slid down. He then crawled through the air duct and emerged in an office space. He glanced at a few surveillance cameras in the corners of the office but ignored them and ran inside to head to the CEO's office, because the final black gem was located inside.

As he was about to enter, he overheard a conversation inside the CEO's office. He slowly opened the door and peeked in. He saw an old man sitting behind his desk and a middle-aged woman sitting across from him. "Tap... tap... tap," he heard approaching footsteps.

Dylan immediately turned to see Hans walking closer to the CEO's office with Mark. Dylan quickly stepped aside and let Hans open the CEO's office door. When the two entered, Dylan leaped in right behind them before the door closed again.

Inside, he immediately looked around. There was a surveillance camera in the right corner right above a cabinet. Then he looked at his map once more; the red dot was located right on the old man sitting behind the desk. Slowly, Dylan approached the old man. He observed the old man named Vincent closely. When he looked at his cane, he saw a black gem there. But as he was about to take it,

"So they've all been captured, boss?" Mark asked.

"Yes, Karl is taking the person who is the CATS host to the villa outside the city, where the others are being held," Vincent replied.

"I see, so what's next?" Layla asked.

"We'll force him to say where the gems are, or we'll kill them and search their houses for the gems ourselves. We are almost at our goal; once CROWS is resurrected, no one will be able to stop us, not even the government," Vincent said.

"Who exactly is the host of CATS who calls himself Phantom Cat?" Hans asked.

"According to CROWS, he is the grandson of Davis James... the person who has been hindering us for so long," Vincent replied.

"So that's it. That means killing Davis about a month and a half ago and killing his son earlier was for nothing. His grandson managed to escape," Layla muttered.

"Not for nothing. We've captured them. It's just a matter of time before we finish them off. The obstacle is gone; our plan is within sight," Vincent stated.

"That's right, boss," Mark replied, smiling.

"So now we just have to wait for news from Karl. Hopefully, he doesn't fail again, and thank you, boss, for being willing to visit their house, because if one of us had gone, they would have been suspicious," Hans said.

"No problem, all for our plan," Vincent said, smiling while holding his cane.

Dylan's blood immediately boiled when he heard their conversation. His parents, whom he previously thought died in an accident, were actually killed by the people in front of him. The same went for his grandfather, who died about a month ago, also killed.

His hands clenched into fists, his teeth ground together, and his face turned bright red, even though he was invisible. He desperately wanted to pull the pistol from his dimensional storage and shoot the four people in front of him.

[Calm down, sir.]

"How can I be calm after hearing all this?" Dylan thought in his head, enraged.

[There will be a time for us to finish them off. The important thing now is the safety of our family.]

Dylan flinched. His fists relaxed. He stepped back slightly, then took a long, deep breath and exhaled again to calm himself. His heart ached, and his pulse pounded. He continued to try and control his emotions. After a while, Dylan began to calm down again, although his heart was still pounding with anger.

"You're right, CATS. The priority is to free Ellie, Maya, Lena, Amy, Aaron, Clara, Fiona, and Iris first. Thank you for reminding me. I almost did something I would regret later," Dylan replied in his head.

[You are welcome, sir. Now, please take the gem.]

"Alright," Dylan replied.

Dylan walked toward Vincent's cane, which he had now rested against the desk, and used his steal skill to take the gem. After that, he waited and watched the screen on the right, which showed the view of his clone still inside the car.
