It slowly slipped from my lips as I calmed myself down, preparing myself or this test of willpower and fear.

The groaning of the portal in front of me made it seem like the thing itself was trying to talk me out of it, but I was already dead set on proceeding with this mission.

If I wanted to achieve power and especially results, I needed to show some bravery and step up to acquire these juicy results.

"OKAY, I'M GOING IN! ARE ALL THE SYSTEMS READY!?" And after some solid confirmation, I began the countdown. "THREE! TWO! ONE!"

"MEDICS! BRING THE MEDICS QUICK!" I heard a voice shout through the ringing in my ear, but the amount of hyperventilation that I kept exhaling began to make my vision turn blue, and my ears squeal even more than before.

I felt somebody pick up my body and run me through the halls of the lab before laying me down on a bed with a light so bright above it that I could only close my eyes.

"H-Heart attack! She's having a heart attack! QUICK! BRING THE HARDEST ANESTHESIA WE HAVE!" A nurse shouted as she slapped on a pair of latex gloves and received the box of now disinfected surgical utensils.

"Ma'am, she's going into anaphylactic shock!"

"FROM WHAT?! DO WE SERIOUSLY NOT KNOW HER ALLERGIES?! QUICK! BRING ME-"

…

Beep… beep… beep… beep… beep… beep…

Slowly, I opened my eyes to see a woman with short white hair watching over me, her expression filled to the brim with anxiety and worry.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I chuckled. "I won't die no matter how much I get injured… I can at least assure you that."

But, the woman's face continued to pursue before grabbing my right arm and lifting it up, showing the massive lightning-like scar slowly moving up my wrist.

"This is a curse. Clearly, you ran into somebody you shouldn't have. The Titans aren't that smart despite having a hive mind… plus, I doubt they have curses to actually use… who did you run into?"

I let out a long sigh, my breath literally crystalizing in front of me before falling into small jewels that pattered against my chest.

"A goddess not of this world. A real, physical being who had the power of a god… but what is this curse about? I wouldn't say it hurts,"

"Are you sure you want to know? You might not be happy if you become aware of it… I could spare you all the mental exhaustion and pain right here and now,"

"Just tell me already," I sighed once again. "And the goddess that I encountered wasn't as nice as she looked, despite how stunning she was,"

"Well, that's just how it is. You see Mia, right?" Lucy chuckled, holding my hand as a nurse came walking into the room. "Get out."

"Y-Yes, ma'am," She stuttered, swiftly closing the door behind her as she retreated back into the hallway, waiting for our conversation to end.

There was a long pause between us before Lucy seemed to have gathered up the courage to speak up.

"You most likely won't be able to use magic ever again…." My eyes widened before Lucy quickly interrupted me. "But! That is only because your mana is constantly being sucked away. You still have your other physical attributes meaning you just have to pick up a weapon… but you can't use magic anymore,"

"I might as well be dead then," I gritted my teeth, and now that I really focused on it, I could barely feel any traces of mana within my body.

My life was over.

"But don't worry. I'll take care of you and make sure you can still chase your dreams of power and such… that's what you want, right?"

I had planned on going back into the portal once again, but as I just stood there, looking down into the portal, something appeared in front of me.
