The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 322: Tolf Leader: Ethel (10)

"Hmmm… Well, there has been one thing on my mind, but I don't know if you'll let me do it…." I slowly trailed off, knowing I might need to pull the puppy eyes out.

"Go ahead and say it. As long as it is within a reasonable capacity, I will fulfill any wish that you might have… but I do want something in return,"

"Huh? You do? What do I have to give to you?"

"I'm sure you're well aware, but normally two women can't create a child… yet here you are… and Athena and I have been thinking about adopting one for a while, but after seeing you, we knew we had another option,"

"Ah, yes… I understand… I'll talk to my mother about that then,"

"Then, what is it you want? Money? A few weapons? Maybe some new maids?" Auntie Ethel asked, causing my maids behind me to glare intently at her.

Clearly, she was joking around, but my maids, who were constantly stuck up and never understood a joke, took this to heart.

"I want to go to the water outside of this city. Can I swim in it? If possible…" I requested, and both Athena and Auntie looked at me with surprise.

Clearly, they didn't expect this but seeing how they didn't immediately shoot down the idea; I knew I had a chance.

"Can you swim?" Auntie Ethel asked suspiciously, and I immediately began to sweat bullets that nearly pierced holes through my legs.

I had wanted to do this since I thought it was cool but completely forgot about the fact that I had no clue how to swim… mainly because I thought I'd never use it.

My mothers described the water within this plane to be extremely dangerous, so they never even considered the idea of giving me swimming lessons.

"I'll take that as a 'no' then,"

"N-No! I know how to swim!" I exclaimed, but the two were still suspicious, so they gestured for me to follow and ordered for my maids to stay behind, though…

"We will not take orders from a wench like you," All three of them replied, and only then did Auntie Ethel begin to reconsider her previous words.

"Lucy… do you think you can get your maids to stay behind. We can't have them seeing the place you'll be seeing,"

"I uhhhh-"

"She is not our Mistress, but the Young Miss... Our orders are to make sure the Young Miss is never in danger, and having her follow you might be dangerous… so, unfortunately, we cannot stay behind," My maid of fire replied in a stern tone with ice-cold eyes.

"Welp, I can't overrule my mother's words. So, I hope you can still allow me to go," I asked politely once again, and Athena placed her hand on Auntie Ethel's shoulder.

"Babe, it's alright. They're tight-lipped anyway, so it doesn't matter,"

"*sigh*... Alright, whatever… You can come but you better not tell anybody about this. Not even your Mistress… and if I do find out that you told her, I swear on my name that I'll eradicate each and every single one of you,"

"You don't have the right to create such big threats… when your power is clearly below mine… These two might struggle with you, but I can assure you that I'll make you regret even uttering those words," My maid of death replied threateningly.

"H-Hey, both of you stop… And can't you all just listen to me once and do as they say? This is my request, and if you all want to get in the way of fulfilling my request, then I'll tell mother that you're all being too strict," I intervened, but the two glaring eyes now plastered on my body didn't feel the best.

"Fine…" My maid of death rolled her eyes and then followed the duo and me up ahead all the way until we found ourselves at the door leading down to a dark basement.

Auntie Ethel unlocked it with a key that she made from her own water magic, forming its teeth and frame until it finally unlocked the door.

The stairway leading downstairs wasn't very long, and the illumination of blue light shimmered its way up to this upper floor.

"This here is the place I come for recovery whenever I have a big fight against something or maybe even have a long day…." Auntie Ethel explained, our footsteps echoing through the stairway as we took small steps downwards.

The light grew more powerful the longer we walked, and upon reaching the bottom, I found myself in complete awe yet again.

It was a dome-shaped cave with a bubbling and sparkling aqua-blue pond about waste deep for the average adult.

And the illumination wasn't just from the sparkling pond but also the bubbles of light floating near the ceiling, slowly drifting with the cave's occasional breeze.

How was that possible? I had no clue, but I wasn't complaining as I immediately wanted to jump in.

But, before I could even jump in, Auntie Ethel caught me by my collar and dragged me back, earning more scornful looks from my maids with the way she treated me roughly.

"Girl, we're not here for fun. We're here to see if you can swim," Auntie Ethel sighed, but upon seeing the best puppy eyes that I could muster, she clicked her tongue and slowly let go of my collar. "Go ahead…" She sighed once again.

"Wait! Young Miss! Please don't dirty those clothes-!"

But it was too late as I was already splashing in the shallow end, which was about up to my chest, but it was still fun to splash around in.

I had never had the chance to experience such a thing in my past life since I was always focused on improving myself and my kingdom… but now that I feel free, doing things like this is amazing.

I could feel the slight hostility between the group slowly melt away as they saw me having fun and eventually decided to jump in… all except for my maid of death, of course, as she kept watch of the only entrance and exit to this place.
