It was almost scary.
"*sigh*... My bad… As expected of Lucy and Mia's child… But I need a break, and it's been a while since I've seen Athena, so don't worry about it,"
Her genuine expression was a bit refreshing to see despite how scary it might've been, but I know all of the leaders of Tolf must've gone through a lot.
I haven't heard many stories from my moms, but I do know that they had some horrible experiences as children and even as they entered their late teens.
"Alright, now, welcome to the second floor of the Ocean City," Ethel announced as one more guard pulled open a metal door, revealing an extravagant dark sight before me.
It was like a completely opposite world to the bright and beautiful blue scenery above as this was dark, had lots of neon lights, and had the stench of something disgusting wafting through it.
But, when I took a closer look at the surroundings as we stepped out of the metal box, allowing us to enter such a place, I noticed the walls were made completely out of thick glass.
And since the walls are also made of thick glass, shouldn't the outside be as blue and beautiful as the place above?"
"We call this place Mariana's Trench, and this is but the first floor. We're slowly working our way down the trench, but it just seems so impossibly deep that I don't think we'll ever reach the bottom… plus, the monsters here are-"
Suddenly, a massive eyeball moved against the side of the glass… bubble? We were basically inside a glass bubble, to say the least.
It was eerie, and it didn't blink at all as the rest of its dark and scaly body moved past.
Unlike the sea creatures up top, this thing was massive, ugly, and, most of all, terrifying, yet the citizens just saw it as a normal occurrence.
In fact, they were more focused on chopping up this strange white powder which I assumed the smell was coming from.
"What is that?" I asked.
"The fish?" Auntie asked, and since I was also intrigued about that, I just nodded my head. "We haven't really given it a name yet since we're still collecting information about this section of the trench, but I can say it is the biggest. It isn't very harmful and more just intimidating due to its horrific appearance and almost stupid swimming patterns,"
"What happens if that thing knocks into the glass?"
Suddenly, Auntie's eyes went cold as we walked through these cramped and dark streets. "Eradication."
That single word sent shivers down my spine, forcing me to shut up and forget to ask the initial question that I had.
Soon, we reached what seemed to be a club that was bustling with life and music, but in front of it, at the very entrance, was a massive bouncer just standing there intimidatingly.
But, once again, upon seeing Auntie, their attitude shifted and let her through, but this time I was stopped before entering.
"No kids," He said, his voice so deep that it nearly shook my childish body.
"I'm with her," I said, pointing to Auntie, who slowly turned around, piercing her eyes into the back of the guard's head.
His tan skin paled before letting us through, though it seemed he still had something to say as he grabbed my little shoulder with his massive hand.
"Careful in there… people will be after you whether you like it or not,"
I nodded upon hearing the bouncer's kind words and then quickly caught up to Auntie, who was making her way through the crowded club.
Everybody here was so damn strong, and even as I pushed through them with my unnatural strength, I was still tipped off balance and fell in the middle of the dance floor.
Slowly, I looked up and saw a raised platform with a woman teasingly humping a metal pole.
"W-what the hell…." I muttered, blushing profusely before feeling a hand grab my hand and yank me away from the neon lights and loud music.
"Stay near me," Auntie demanded before dragging me to the back room which had a strong stench of smoke.
I nearly choked on it as she opened the door, but my adaptability soon kicked in, and I was able to waltz right through as if the smoke wasn't even there.
This back room was strange since it was lined with bookcases and had a single wooden desk at the very back with a woman in very revealing robes.
She also had a large black mage hat sitting atop her head, and I was wondering what we were going to be doing here until I saw both my aunt's and the woman's eyes light up.
"Honey~!" The mage exclaimed, getting up from her seat and running up to my aunt, who immediately hugged her like an excited puppy.
She showered my aunt with kisses, and as they soon finished up their intimate greeting, she turned to me with glowing purple eyes.
"Hm? Is that who I think it is?"
"Yep… that's Lucy's kid," Auntie sighed before watching her partner slowly walk up to me, bringing back the smell of smoke.
"Yuck… take a shower," I muttered under my breath before the woman crouched down to my level to greet me.
Her face had been covered mostly by the large black mage hat she wore, but once I saw her beautiful mature face and long purple hair, my jaw nearly dropped to the floor.
"P-Pretty,"
"Oh, you sweet little thing… was Auntie taking good care of you?" She asked, slowly ruffling my hair while her smokey breath infiltrated my nostrils.
I nearly gagged as she talked to me, and she quickly noticed this before standing up.
"Sorry about that, kid… I guess I'll go take a shower and brush my teeth. I had a little session before you came in here,"
"Just… a session?" I asked seriously, but the woman just laughed before pulling a curtain blocking another room to the side.
What a strange woman…
