The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 309: Tolf Leader: Clio (6)

"Sh-she gave me such a precious thing?" I stuttered.

"Hold on… it might be a piece of soul equipment… how about bringing the handle close to your chest and concentrating on your breathing,"

I followed my maid's instructions but didn't feel a shift in the blade I held until my eyes began to water, and the weightless feeling became basically air.

I slowly opened my eyes to find the sword gone, leaving me panicked and shifting my eyes around the room.

"Young Miss, calm down. Open your status and tell me what you see,"

"Ummm… it says I have a soul equipment section in my status now… is that good or bad?" I asked, but my maids continued to sweat as they proceeded with their next question.

"Young Miss, now please tell us the name of the sword,"

"Shard of Raiu: The Last Divine Sword… is that good? It has divine in its name, so surely it must be decent, right?" I asked, and the faces of my maids all paled as soon as I described the sword, leaving me totally confused.

I mean, come on! Give me something to work with here!

"Young Miss… Ummm… that is the previous sword of the greatest sovereign deity in existence itself… though, it seems to be a bit broken,"

"W-What? Like a god? This is the sword of a god?"

"Well, from what I've heard, long ago, there was a great war waged between a place called Caelum and what is now known as hell. Eventually, both ended up destroying each other, with a singular being standing at the pinnacle of all of them, supported by the mass of hundreds of strong monsters… she stood at the pinnacle, thus ascending into godhood, where she flipped the divine system on its head completely. I don't know many other details, but this fragment that you hold was once a piece of the sword that allowed her to slay and stand at the pinnacle of monsters," The maid of death explained.

I froze in place, completely silent to the information I had just been told.

My head whirled with various different thoughts, but the main question I had was…

"Is she going to come and get this fragment?"

"Ummm… I highly doubt it, but it could be a possibility… do not use this sword unless you truly need to save yourself or somebody else because you might encounter somebody that might want to retrieve it from the god-realm,"

"God realm? Is that where you come from?"

"Yes, our creator sent us down here with the objective of protecting and serving your mother to the best of our abilities… and, not long ago, we were informed of the information that our objective has also been to serve and protect you," My maid of fire explained.

"Without the confirmation, we might've still been protecting your mother because our Master's orders are what come first…."

"I see… well, thank you very much for serving me," I smiled, and as all the maids blushed from my wholesome smile, I waved my hand, causing the sword to appear back in the center of my palm.

I squeezed it tightly and then made it disappear once more before climbing into bed and being tucked in by my maid of ice, who slowly cooled my body to a temperature that almost instantly made me fall asleep.

"Good night…." I just barely managed to squeeze out before slowly drifting off… or so I thought.

BOOOOOOOM

A massive explosion rung through the air from outside the palace, but when I took a closer look as to what was happening, I saw a behemoth of a creature erupt from the sands just outside the walls of the city.

"Young Miss, permission to investigate," All three of my maids instantly requested.

"Ice and Fire can go, but Death, please stay with me," I ordered, and soon the two women who were wrapped with determination disappeared from my senses.

"Young Miss, what would you like me to do,"

"Just stay here for now… we'll wait until they either call for help or the maids I sent out come back with some interesting news… that thing looks like it'd give me a nice sack of experience… because that is what I need most as of now."

(Unknown POV)

"Your excellency," I immediately bowed down before the woman sitting atop her throne made of galaxies shimmering yards up in the air.

As soon as her eyes grazed over me, I felt my body nearly crumble under her pressure, and despite being a god myself, before this supreme ruler… I was practically nothing.

The Goddess of Taboo and Existence was too powerful for me to even look her in the eyes without going crazy.

If I were to lift even an inch of my head right now, I don't know what kinds of trouble I'd be in.

"You may raise your head… your voice is unhearable from down there," She muttered, and when I slowly raised my eyes, I saw her gesture for a woman crawling beside her throne to come closer.

She had six tarantula-like appendages erupting from her back, but despite being a pet of the supreme ruler, her eyes were more arrogant than her Master's.

The Goddess of Reality Weaving was actually her pet… what a being.

"We have found the thief, but it's been handed off multiple times… I doubt the ones towards the bottom of the list are even aware of the power the shard holds…."

"And what about the other shards?"

"We… We haven't been able to find them yet."

And just like that, a crushing pressure nearly made my soul pop.
