The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 289: Working as A Ruler of Tolf (6)

"Can I trust you with the information I've gathered?" I asked since there was a possibility she was a double spy who gave information to both sides.

"I swear upon the emperor and his child that I would never do such a thing," She lightly smiled gracefully before slowly leaning in. "Also, the emperor told me to break you out, so feel lucky a lowly traitor's subordinate like you actually paid so much attention,"

I couldn't help but smile as this woman was legit, so I told her all of my information to prove my loyalty to the emperor.

"Alright… We'll escape as soon as the bitch in here loses focus. She's constantly busy and will take a while to get to the actual hall, so we'll use that chance to escape… Follow right after me and do not anything else,"

"I got you,"

As the woman swiftly left the room, looking as unsuspicious as possible, a boost of adrenaline suddenly shot through my body.

This was a high-risk situation that I had gotten myself into, but the emperor was somebody I could actually trust, and he actually sent an insider to come to help me.

Soon, I was escorted out of the room and through the beautiful long halls bustling with servants attending each and every inch of this place.

Are they that scared of getting punished?

As I smirked ever so slightly, we turned into a massive throne hall where a woman with long white hair and glistening green eyes greeted me.

They were like emeralds that shone brightly across the hall, taunting my ignorance and stupidity… taunting my fragile ego that was slowly getting chipped down to absolutely nothing.

"Y-You bitch!" I cried out as the woman to who I had told all of my information to and even put my trust into was actually one of the rulers of Tolf.

Her cold gaze brushed over my head, and as I was forced down to kneel in front of her and look up at her raised throne, I felt the embarrassment and stupidity of my ignorant actions slowly set in.

"*sigh*... And this is why running a cult… oops, nope, religion is so hard… we get bugs like this," The woman muttered, her words forming into massive boulders that pressed down on my back and spine, almost forcing me to lower my head.

I immediately began to sweat bullets as this woman was strong… way too strong for her own good and even to the point that just looking at her made me feel unworthy… like an ant staring up at a giant elephant- no, a dragon.

"So, you said I'm a bitch, correct?" The woman asked, and I couldn't even open my mouth as her pressure was too great.

As she slowly got up from her throne and walked down the few steps leading to me, I felt the pressure weighing down on my head suddenly increase.

If I resisted any longer, I would strain my neck to the point of no return, so in unison with my submission, I lowered my head to the ground and didn't even dare to look up.

"F-Forgive me," I finally managed to squeeze out, but as I felt her heel pressed against the back of my head, I knew death was inevitable.

I immediately attempted to get up, but for some reason, her light press turned into a crushing stomp that nearly put a hole through my head with the tip of her heel.

"What was that? Trying to escape?" Her voice grazed the back of my head, and as tears welled up in my eyes, I attempted to beg for forgiveness one more time.

"P-Please have mercy… I'll swear my loyalty to you for the rest of time," I muttered, knowing this was my last chance.

"That's good… but I don't want your dirty loyalty. What I want you to do is earn my respect in the afterlife. Kill the prince even if it costs you your life… and then, I might spare those adorable siblings of yours,"

I winced upon hearing her threat as I thought I had hidden them well and also my true identity, but in the eyes of god, I could hide absolutely nothing.

"Hm? Are you surprised I managed to figure out your true identity…? So, Miss Daughter of a Trillionaire… how was it being raised as a spoiled brat?" The woman muttered, her heel lifting off the back of my head a smile of relief stretched across my face.

Using this next mission, I would run away… run away as far as I could… as going back to my father would just end up in my death as well… I'll also take my siblings before this damn woman can find anything else.

"That's a good look,"

Suddenly, the woman crouched down to my level as she slowly lifted my head and seemingly stared through my smile of relief and saw my true intentions.

"Now… you'll do this mission for me, right? You want to earn my respect?" The woman lightly chuckled before walking back and sitting on her throne.

She snapped her fingers, causing two little boys to be dragged into the room, and my face paled with fear.

"H-How…" I muttered as I thought she was slightly bluffing with my siblings… but she somehow managed to find them in that bunker I had made sure nobody could find.

Even placing it at the bottom of the ocean wasn't enough.

"*sigh*... Tisk… tisk… tisk… Such a shame. You're a good negotiator, just like your father… but again, just like him, you fail to see the broader picture and fail to learn where that pride of yours ends. You were so close to a promotion where I would pay you more than that leech of an uncle, and you would have so much freedom that I wouldn't have cared what you did with your brothers," The woman shrugged, and tears began to roll down my face.

I was powerless against this woman, and I had been practically dancing in the palm of her hand this entire time.

As I looked up once more to see her face, I noticed she was taking pleasure in my suffering and torment…, but I couldn't do anything to defend myself but beg for forgiveness… until something suddenly came to mind.

"I-If I knew that… I would've stayed loyal to you. I-I just didn't like how you treated the innocent and slaughtered them when you thought they were a threat… or got us to do it, in fact-"

"SILENCE!" A guard suddenly shouted as he swung his spear at my neck and stopped just before it could slice my head off.

A drop of sweat rolled down my face, and I knew this was it… this was the end.

"Just kill me… Just… spare my brothers. I don't care what you do, just don't kill them or have them suffer like me… I want them to live full of joy," I muttered, and as I ducked beneath the spear, I pressed my head against the ground and begged once more.

"Fufufu… That's good. Good… See… All you had to do was give up that pride of yours. I'll offer you one last chance, but that also means swearing absolute loyalty to me. If I call you, you come to me. If I want you to kill somebody, you'll kill them. This world isn't just, and I don't plan on making it… but if you want to survive and live happily, then you must sacrifice others. Being selfish is what will make you strong,"

"Th-thank you, your excellency," I meekly smiled.

The woman just lightly smiled before gesturing for the guards to help me up to my feet, the one who had swung his spear still glaring at me intently.

"Good… Now, I'll promote you to an executive…." The woman muttered, and my eyes suddenly widened since that was literally the same position as the same beautiful man that had captured me.

Not only are you a Japanese branch leader for Tolf, but you're also a personal assistant for the ruler, you can mobilize thousands of men if you wanted to, and the pay and freedom that you would have in exchange for absolute loyalty are immeasurable… you're practically a ruler of Japan in itself.

"Your excellency!" A man suddenly objected, and from what I saw, it was the first branch leader who was also one of the three existing executives present.

"What is it, Linx?"

As his luscious long hair spun in the air with anger, he stormed towards me and grabbed my hair, only to drop to his knees upon feeling the same pressure I had felt.

"Do you want to be demoted?" The ruler coldly asked as Linx, the third executive out of the three, grumbled with anger.

"F-Forgive me for speaking out, but this woman does not deserve the position of executive!"

"And why do you say that?"

"Sh-She's weak! Way too weak to be an executive, so I just do not understand your intentions! Please elaborate!"

"And why should I elaborate to you?" The woman asked, and her cold voice was like a muffle that wrapped around the throat of every single person present within the throne hall.
