The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 281: A New World (4)

But, I began to slowly get nervous as I thought back to the letter we had just received, forcing my eyes open as I kept a watch out for any assassin attempting to stalk us.

Though, it seems Synzer felt my nerves as she quickly turned my head towards her and brought me in for a long and heart-warming kiss.

It slowly turned into a long make-out session which, of course, led to me circling on top of her.

"Just focus on me tonight. No need to worry," She muttered before slowly stripping her nightgown, revealing her naked body underneath.

Her warmth was comforting, and it almost caressed me as I hugged her back before reaching into the drawer and pulling out a little toy to pursue our fun time.

The next morning I awoke to the sound of birds chirping but also the sound of metal boots clanking against the dirt outside.

The shuffling of grass being pushed to the side echoed through my humble abode, so I quickly woke up Synzer, and we both took a peek through the small hole in the door.

Five knights were standing outside our door and seeing how their long black horns and red skin were prominently shown; they were definitely demons.

"*sigh*... What do you want?" I asked the five men after slowly opening the door.

"We have come to inform you that the banquet for each invited general of honor is tomorrow. If you would like, you may attend, but if you don't attend, we will assume you do not want to become a general, and eradication will be the only outcome," One of the knights explained, and I couldn't help but sigh again.

"Whatever," I muttered before slamming the door in their face and returning to the dining table where Synzer had already prepared breakfast.

We could both hear the five knights swiftly leaving our territory but seeing how yesterday wasn't a coincidence, I began to get a bit nervous.

Should I… just go? I have to protect Synzer at all costs, even if it means sacrificing my own life…

"Do what you feel is right…." Synzer suddenly spoke up as she slid the freshly scrambled eggs onto the plate set right in the middle of the wooden table.

"I just want to live a peaceful life with you… nothing else… just that," I muttered, and as Synzer sat down at the table, she suddenly stood back up and circled around it.

Her hand grabbed my cheeks and pulled me towards her face before she suddenly yelled,

"I didn't start dating you because you were a pussy! I liked how you were so brave and willing to do anything! That is the reason I started liking you!"

Small tears flowed from my eyes as I stuttered,

"Y-Y-You don't love me anymore?"

"N-No, that's not what I meant," Synzer stuttered, but after seeing me let out a string of tears like the inner baby inside of me had just been let loose, she let out a long and exhausted sigh.

She hugged me tightly, her embrace as warm and as comforting as ever.

"I still love you, of course, but when did you start becoming so scared?" Synzer muttered as she held me tightly.

"Because I had a reason to live, and if that is taken away from me, I don't know what I'd do," I muttered through gritted teeth, angry at the world that kept trying to test me when all I wanted to do was just live a peaceful life.

"Oh, baby… okay… we can run away again if you want. Somewhere even further and more secretive," She muttered, but now I felt a bit motivated.

"Fine… I'll go fight for your safety. No, I'll go fight for our safety…, and once I'm back, we can finally raise a child together… how many do you want?" I asked with a small teary smile as I slowly pulled away from her hug.

"I want three. Well, three is the minimum," She chuckled, and my face paled a bit at the thought of having more than three kids.

I would lose my mind from all the stress and chaotic energy they give off… but if it is what Synzer wants, then I wouldn't mind it.

"If that is what you want," I muttered before giving my wife a small kiss on the cheek and then sitting down for some delicious breakfast.

The next day, I prepared everything and even trained with my wife just a bit for any suspicious situation that I would need to fight.

It had been a while since my last battle, but I was still confident in my skills.

"Alright, come back safe," Synzer waved me goodbye, and after a small hug and short kiss, I set off into the forest in the nicest suit I could find.

I made sure no part of it got dirty, which was a bit hard since it just rained yesterday, but freezing over the mud was absolutely child's play to me.

And after an hour and a half of walking, I finally arrived at the entrance to the massive palace sitting atop the arching hill.

"Name and identification please," The knight said.

"Cora, general candidate," I instantly replied, and after sifting through a pretty short list of names, he let me through, and I walked into the massive palace.

A butler led me to the main throne room, which was essentially just a massive hall filled to the brim with all kinds of amazing food.

And there he was… the man who I had barely recognized due to his full suit of armor.

"How are you doing?" He asked me, putting out his hand for a quick handshake, but I just ignored it as I walked past and took a small cracker.

Buttery… geez, this amazing. I should learn how to make food as quality as this… maybe I should try and take some cooking classes.

"Excuse me, but are you, Cora, from the plane of snow?" The king asked me once again, and my cold eyes slowly shifted onto him before I opened my mouth.

"And what if I am?" I replied, causing all of the guards present to shake with anger.

Seeing their metal pieces of gear rattle with their vibrating bodies inside was quite amusing, but I knew offending this anymore wouldn't help me in the slightest.

"I'm so glad to see you here. You're quite the strong monster, and it's nice to have you on my team," He muttered, and I couldn't help but gag a bit at his fake kindness.

"Let's cut the bullshit. I know you just want me to for my power, and I can't do anything 'cause you'll kill my wife, so just know I'm on your side for now. No need to butter me up," I muttered before tossing a cracker in my mouth and pouring myself a nice glass of wine.

But, it seems the man still had more to talk about with me.

"If I may ask… have you seen that tundra snake anytime around… what was her name… hmmm… Lucy? Ah yes, Lucy… have you seen her? I felt her soul come back to this world, and it would be nice to have her on my side,"

"Come back?" I muttered.

"Ah, that's right… I guess you wouldn't know. Well, welcome to Earth, the land of humans and one of the last remaining planets in the universe. The gods eradicated every single planet and even altered some natural laws, leaving just a few plants left alive. The rest had been melted down into planes that now house several hundred species… quite the interesting performance, I must say," The man chuckled.

"And this is where Lucy and her girlfriend and sisters are from?"

"Exactly… and seeing how you said that, I can assume you don't know where Lucy and her sisters are, right?"

"Of course not. I was only focused on attending to my beautiful wife… in fact, I thought I would receive a few wedding gifts, but it seems like you're not that hospitable,"

"Fufufu… well, I would like to congratulate you, and in fact, we did send you some gifts just earlier this day. But, it might take a while since the amount is quite large,"

"And what did you send? A bomb?"

"Nope… a potion that I know you've wanted to get your hands on again and tons of money so you can build yourself an even bigger and better home. Create your dream business or even make your own adventurers guild… how about that? Pretty nice, am I right?"

"Hmph… just make sure my wife stays safe. That is all I ask for," I muttered before the king went to go greet another candidate, yet I had no interest in talking to any of the ones.

I just came here to set things straight with this man, and then I was going to return once more to my wife, only coming back upon being summoned by the man himself.
