Judging from my reaction, my maid just glared at me and continued to wipe down my body.
"So you were too lazy huh… You know what, we'll be training together," My maid suggested and I had no idea about the hellish training she was about to put me through.
…
And so, three months had passed by and boy was I different.
…
(Astra POV)
I awoke in a black room and was immediately attacked by a giant bat that had hung from absolutely nothing, on the pitch-black ceiling.
It killed me… and then I reawoke in the same position again, being attacked by the same bat, in the same darkroom.
I felt its claws rip through my body and my mind slowly melt from the pain… and then nothing besides my heavy breathing and the same bat charging towards me once again.
This time, I dodged out of the way and tried to summon a pair of daggers made from my own blood, but strangely nothing appeared, thus causing me to die again.
After reawakening for the third time, I dodged out of the way and then lunged towards the bat at full speed, tearing at its hard and pulling on its thick skin… but I died again.
The pain that time wasn't too bad since the ripping sensation was the only thing I felt, then a split second of excruciating pain, then ease as my head was flung across the room.
The experience of dying was strange, yet not completely foreign to me, almost as if I had been around it my whole life.
But, I don't remember living on the edge my entire life so how come I felt so experienced with it.
CAWWWW
The bat let out an ungodly cry that made my ears practically burst, causing me to flinch and just barely allow me to dodge its next move.
The bloodlust bared at me was sharp like a pair of fangs and dexterous like a set of claws, waiting to strike.
CAWWWW
Its cry unleashed yet another paralyzing wave that sent shivers down my spine and the hairy beast suddenly dived toward me.
Seemingly uncaring for any repercussions, it opened up so many openings that I could've ended its life in an instant… if I had my daggers that is.
Right now I was like a blade made of the strongest material, but it was dull and uncared for, only used as a blunt weapon that didn't do much damage at all.
BAM
I punched it square in the face as it charged toward me, but just as it flinched from the impact, it swung its webbed wing around and the claw tore my head in half.
After waking up again, I immediately adapted to my surroundings and ran off into the distance as I needed to gather more information.
I needed to learn its move sets, skills, and strengths which I could avoid when the time came.
But for now, I needed to dodge this damn attack that was coming straight from the back of my head!
It was a blast of magic-infused blood that was sharpened into a beam that pierced through the air and ripped through the darkness as I dove out of the way.
After noticing a slight period of cool down between the bat's attack and its finishing it, I tried to open my status… but nothing came up.
If it wasn't obvious before, it was now as it was apparent the system was completely out of my reach and I needed to resort to my basic skills.
"Can I at least get a pair of daggers?" I chuckled before the bat shot a spray of blood that slowly fell down onto me, and created a burst of flames.
I was unable to extinguish the high-intensity flames and I then fell victim to its heat as it spread through my body and burned me from the inside out.
After waking up again, I took a different plan of attack as when the bat dropped down from the pitch-black ceiling, I noticed a slight vulnerability.
It was a set of flappy skin that hung from the very top of the bat's inner skinny thighs that were so thin you'd think they were twigs.
"Need to hit leg day my man," I muttered, and then slid under the bats' swoop.
As it began to turn around, I dove in towards it and pulled at the flappy skin, and yanked until the pained cries of the bat rung through the room.
It screeched and screeched while flailing its webbed wings downwards, but that only worked in my favor as its claws could only reach to its lower belly.
It even began to slightly scratch itself and even more, blood began to pour from the poor thing before me.
After seeing the bat trip over its own skinny legs, I chuckled a bit before jumping onto the back of its head and winding up a large punch.
BAM… CRACK
You could hear the bat's skull being crushed and dented from a mile away and the sound was so nauseating that even I, the person who did that to the poor thing ended up gagging.
But, it wasn't over as another screech came from the distance, and this time, it froze over my entire body and as I stood there, completely paralyzed and helpless… I saw it… a monstrous thing that crashed down from the ceiling.
Hairy, blood-red eyes, spikes protruding from the lining of its webbed wings, a large horn sticking out from the top of its head and blood already dripping down its torso.
Geez… what a fucked up thing.
And just like that, I died again without mercy.
…
(Nell POV)
It was the next morning and I had an amazing breakfast with the dancers still entertaining me but to be honest, I'd rather have a video game right now.
Plus, playing such loud music in the morning was annoying.
I thought I wouldn't get sick of this due to how much fun I was having yesterday, but now that I was experiencing it in the morning, I'd rather just have some smooth jazz or something.
"Hey, can't you play anything lighter?" I asked the butler standing beside my bed.
"Oh forgive me. I thought since you were enjoying it so much yesterday that you wouldn't mind listening to it again," He said, but I responded with,
"I mean, it's good, but play it during dinner. It's too much for the morning,"
He responded with a bow and after a clap of his hands, a line of smooth jazz began to play and the dancers immediately adjusted to it.
I don't know why, but that was pretty funny.
I chuckled to myself and then proceeded to enjoy the rest of my breakfast as from how highly the maids and butlers talked about this new teacher, I was expecting to get absolutely destroyed from her harsh teachings.
And boy was I not wrong.
"Nice to meet you, kiddo! I'll be your teacher for a few months!" The loud and rambunctious vampire woman shouted as she then proceeded to wrap her arm around my shoulder and shake me around like a toy.
She was a few inches taller than me, much more beautiful, and had a personality that would make anybody go bonkers.
Ugh… Just the person I was hoping not to get.
Her personality was completely opposite to mine as I was more calm, cool, and collected while she was loud, annoying, and… annoying. Yeah, annoying.
"What's with the long face!? We'll be having an amazing time together!" She shouted and slapped my back while laughing loudly.
My eardrums are going to burst…
"Alright, first tell me your fighting style," She said after finally letting go of me and standing before me with a powerful pose.
"Well, I'm more of an all-rounder. I cover for anybody within my group and-"
"Oop, I'm going to stop you right there. First… don't talk like you just support because even if you are, you have so much more potential,"
She looked at my chest as if she was looking at my soul and smiled at my potential.
"But I really am just support. I use a spear while also stopping the enemies with my ability to control the blood inside of them. Most of my skills only work within the opponent's body, though I do have the occasional skill that lets me form a weapon out of my own blood," I responded.
"Are you kidding me!? That's an amazing power!" She shouted and her compliment made me blush a bit.
"Well, I guess it is," I giggled slightly and I saw her smile warmly out of the corner of my eye.
"First, let me spar you because even though the status does display the base stats, with a bad user, good stats can become complete trash,"
"Alright… come at me then," I said and tapped my foot slightly.
The open arena we were standing in then proceeded to turn into a valley of bloody spikes that acted like a domain for me to stand within.
"Quite the cocky girl,"
