The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 303: Really Think You're Somebody?

Truth be told, Liu Yumei had never expected Chen Zheng to make such a request, and for a moment, she was at a loss.

She knew that determining whether a jade vein lay underground was a meticulous process requiring immense experience and knowledge. Without professional equipment and expertise, it was incredibly difficult to make such a judgment. She found it hard to believe that a young man like Chen Zheng could understand this field, let alone speak of it with such confidence.

"Brother Chen..." Liu Yumei's brow furrowed as she stared intently at Chen Zheng. "Are you certain? This isn't a joking matter!"

Although they had met less than half an hour ago, based on what had just happened and her own judgment, Liu Yumei was convinced that Chen Zheng was not the type to make baseless claims or deceive people.

"Sister Liu, you're already planning to sell the mine anyway. In that case, why not let me try first?" Chen Zheng replied with a smile. "Even if I fail, you won't lose anything, right?"

Hearing this, Liu Yumei nodded thoughtfully. He had a point. Since she was already prepared for the worst-case scenario, letting Chen Zheng try wouldn't hurt. Even if nothing came of it, she wouldn't have any losses. But if a miracle occurred, the payoff would be enormous!

With this in mind, Liu Yumei nodded earnestly. "Alright, it's a deal. You can come to the Liu Family's mine tomorrow. I'll personally accompany you down for a look, so you can prepare accordingly."

"If you really find a jade vein as you claim, all the herbs in my possession are yours. I guarantee you won't get the short end of the deal!"

"Then it's settled," Chen Zheng nodded slowly.

After discussing a few more specific details, they went their separate ways.

As Chen Zheng was walking to his car to leave, he suddenly saw Sun Yan rushing toward him, her expression absolutely furious, as if she wanted to tear him to pieces.

"Chen Zheng, you damn bastard!"

Sun Yan ran up and raised her hand to slap him, but Chen Zheng reacted instantly, catching her wrist and pushing it aside.

"I'm warning you, don't try that again," Chen Zheng said, his gaze cold. "Otherwise, you will regret it."

If this infuriating woman weren't his wife's best friend—the one who had kindly taken in Wei Zixuan when she first came to Jiangnan—Chen Zheng wouldn't have been so restrained.

"You good-for-nothing, do you really think you're the only one who understands anything?" Sun Yan shrieked. "If you hadn't run your mouth and ruined my good fortune, would I be in this mess? Now my cousin is demanding we repay ten million! Where the hell am I supposed to find that kind of money, you damn bastard!"

"If my husband's company collapses, your wife will be out of a job, too! Don't you forget, your wife is the vice president of my husband's company! Are you out of your mind?" Sun Yan finally shrieked, letting out the words she'd been holding back.

"I'm warning you again, watch your words!" Chen Zheng's expression turned glacial. "Everyone has to pay the price for their mistakes. When you were bribed to check up on your cousin, did you ever consider it might come to this? Now that there's a problem, you just blame someone else. How pathetic."

"I don't need you to tell me what to do!" Sun Yan roared. "You're just a good-for-nothing veteran! Who gave you the right to lecture me? Just you wait. I'll make Zixuan divorce you! A psycho like you should have been kicked to the curb ages ago!"

Chen Zheng slowly clenched his fists, his gaze growing even colder. "My relationship with my wife is none of your business. You have no right to interfere."

He was rapidly losing his patience. This woman had provoked him time and again, even daring to meddle in his affairs with Wei Zixuan. When his tolerance reached its limit, he wouldn't hesitate to teach her a lesson.

"What's wrong? Scared now?" Sun Yan taunted, bursting into derisive laughter. "I thought you were so tough! So what if you can fight? Do you think that means anything in today's society? That's why Zixuan has never respected you! The best someone like you can ever hope for is a job as a security guard!"

At this, Sun Yan seemed to remember something, and the mockery in her eyes intensified.

"You probably don't know this, but I've already asked around. That Lamborghini you drive isn't even yours! It belongs to the Sun Family's Miss Sun. I can't believe how shameless you are, using someone else's car to put on an act. If I'm not mistaken, you're just a chauffeur!"

"You good-for-nothing! A mere chauffeur! What makes you think you're worthy of Zixuan? You're just a toad lusting after swan meat!"

"If you ask me, you're the ugly toad here!" At that exact moment, a tall, opulently dressed woman approached from behind.

With an icy expression, she walked right up to Sun Yan and slapped her across the face.

Instantly, a bright red, five-fingered handprint swelled on Sun Yan's pale cheek. The sudden slap left her completely stunned.

"Miss Sun?" Sun Yan clutched her face, staring blankly at the wealthy woman before her.

She had seen Sun Doudou several times; she was the daughter of Sun Jian, a woman of incredibly high status. She never imagined that someone so noble would strike her in public over a nobody like Chen Zheng.

"You're Liu Yumei's distant cousin, Sun Yan?" Sun Doudou snorted, her gaze filled with scorn. "At best, you're just a distant relative of the Liu Family. What gives you the right to put on airs in front of Mr. Chen? Surely you don't actually believe that latching onto the Liu Family has turned you into a phoenix?"
