Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 47: Home Sweet Surprise.

"Hello?!!"

Several hours later, Enzo appeared outside a small garage opening on the side of an old, decrepit apartment building on the outskirts of fort Marie.

Home. He hadn't been home in so long, it was distant.

The place hadn't changed one bit though; it was exactly how he remembered it. The mold covered pile wood doors, the Murky puddles of water, that old tree, the grease stained mechanical equipment and the smell of burning wood.

It was exactly as he remembered it.

"Enzo?" From the corner of his eye, he soon noticed his mother stepping into the open with widened eyes filled with surprise.

Even she looked exactly as he remembered in his memories.

"Hehe, yes, it's me. I'm bac…" Before he could finish his words, a gust of wind blew at him as he was instantly engulfed in a warm, encompassing hug.

"Why didn't you tell me!!" Before Enzo could make sense of it, the cracked voice of his mother sounded in his ears, drips of tears pouring down her eyes and onto his shirt.

Enzo had come to see his father that fateful day and left without a word of explanation to his mother. In hindsight that was very unfair on his part, It wasn't until he had left completely that his father told her what was going on.

Her son had been infected by a strange anomaly that could very well take his life and was fighting for his life.

Those words broke her thoroughly as she gave chase despite warnings against it. She Ran madly into the center of fort Marie and only stopped at Weavetech, The Weavetech toll gate was the only thing that stopped her.

"Mother… I am fine." Enzo didn't know what to say. He couldn't tell her because of this very thing. She had so much on her hands; worrying her would only take a toll on her.

"Are you really okay? Come, let me take a look at you." She pulled away from him, her hand still clasped around his shoulders as she looked over him, checking if he had any wounds.

He felt like a child coming back from the playground being checked for bruises and dirt.

"Is Father awake? I still hope to speak with him," Enzo said mid-check, hoping to calm the situation a bit.

"Why? Is something else wrong?" His words forced her to stop and ask with a much deeper look of concern on her face. The last time, the boy had spoken only to his father then left; she wouldn't let that happen again.

"No, I just wanted to thank him… for everything," Enzo said with a calm smile.

The old man had essentially sacrificed his life for him in that moment. Coming back was such a far-off chance that it seemed all too certain he would die.

And yet the old man gave him all he had.

"He's asleep. It's advised that we let him rest some more," Enzo's mother spoke, then…

"Go to your room and wait. Your siblings will also be home soon; they will be happy to see you. I'll make some food in the meantime." She beckoned him forward with a smile on her face.

She was beyond happy to see her son safe and alive.

"Okay." Enzo didn't say much after that, he simply picked up the Void Coffin and walked directly into the garage and into the corner behind his mother.

Before you knew it, he was in a small room with two bunk beds facing each other.

"These guys," Enzo muttered, seeing his bed well made with neat sheets. Looks like his place wasn't forgotten.

Dispite being young, his little brothers were quite diligent in things they saw as their responsibilities. They would make his bed till he came back.

Closing up towards the bed, Enzo placed the Void Coffin on the ground and sighed his mind difting off. It was all over… but would things go back to normal?

He didn't think so. No, things would change fundamentally.

If before, his dreams of leaving Earth were a pipe dream, now they were closer to reality than ever.

"Void, you said something about functionality upgrades? Can you elaborate?" Enzo asked.

After waking up, Enzo received a series of notifications from the Void Coffin indicating that he had unlocked some of its functions. He had been waiting for this a while now, and it was finally here.

[Correct. The bearer has completed his first voyage and as such has unlocked three coffin functionalities. You may pick two from the list below.

Shadow Void Tattoo: Upon activation, this skill brands the bearer with a mythic tattoo, granting him an edge in one of three categories:

Speed, Strength, Regeneration.

These skills are randomly given by the Void, and the host will only have a choice during a full lunar moon.]

Enzo read the hologram in front of him with absolute seriousness. This was a good skill; its only drawback was the energy requirement and the randomness of the tattoos.

It would be helpful at the very least.

"What's the second one?" Enzo asked shortly. The previous one was a utility skill at the very least. He was hoping for something that could pack a serious punch.

An attack skill.

[Silent Zone: When activated, the coffin emits a dark area that covers a 100-meter radius. In this radius, sound, smell, and sight are completely void.]

"Hmmm, well that's disappointing," Enzo muttered under his breath. The functionality was good, but not exactly what he wanted.

"What's the final skill?" Enzo asked. He was starting to notice a pattern here, and he didn't like it.

However, what he heard next broke that notion.

[Void Bound Guardian: This functionality allows the bearer to summon a void-bound being to serve as a protector or aggressor against enemies.

Slot filled:

Code name: Victoria Draken.]

The last line stunned Enzo to no end, forcing him to stare at the screen with a stunned expression on his face.

What did he just read?! He was able to summon Victoria??!!
