Chapter 105: GAME OVER: MORGANA HAVE BEEN CONSUMED — PART 3.

Sid voice faltered, his lips quivering. He bit down on his lip until he tasted blood.

"I don't care if it kills me. I can't lose you… not like this."

He pressed one trembling palm to Morgana's chest, then jammed the fork into the outlet. The spark exploded instantly— blue light flashing, heat searing through his arm as electricity ripped through his body and into hers.

"ARGHHH— GAAHH!!! FFFF—CK!"

Both their bodies convulsed. Sid's muscles locked tight, smoke rising faintly from his skin as he screamed. Then, with a desperate gasp, he pulled the fork out.

The room went silent except for the sound of his panting.

Then Morgana's body twitched.

Sid's breath caught. He stared, wide eyed, barely able to speak.

"Morgana…?"

He leaned forward, waiting— hoping— for any sign of movement. But nothing came. Her eyes stayed open, empty, her lips cracked and dry. Seconds stretched into minutes, and still, she did not move.

A flash of lightning split the sky, shaking the windows. The sound snapped Sid back to reality. His chest tightened as the truth finally sank in… Morgana was gone.

"Why… why did she die?"

His voice broke into sobs.

"Why did this happen? What did I do to deserve this? What did shedo? Why, Lord… why her?"

Tears streamed down his face as he shook his head, refusing to believe it.

"No… no, you can't— you can't be gone. I'm sorry, Morgana, I should've stayed. I should've listened, I shouldn't have yelled at you, I—"

His words tangled with his crying.

"I love you! I love you…"

It was the confession he had buried for years, finally spoken when it no longer mattered. The words echoed hollow in the dark apartment.

He cried until no tears would come, until his voice faded into a hoarse whisper. His head rested against her unmoving chest. His trembling fingers intertwined with her stiff, cold ones, refusing to let go. The cold of the storm outside seeped through the walls, mixing with the cold of Morgana's skin— and that was all that was left to comfort him.

At some point, exhaustion claimed him. When morning came, the soft chirping of birds stirred his ears. The cold surface beneath his cheek felt rough and damp. A rhythmic, faint beating sound reached his ears, pulling him back from the fog of sleep. His mind was still heavy, memories of the night before clawing their way back. He jolted upright, heart pounding, and his eyes locked on Evelise— but she wasn't the same feral creature from before. Instead, she lay quietly on the bed, her face peaceful, almost childlike.

He smiles, and as he blinked a HUD flickered, displaying a glowing notification.

His breath caught, he could not even say what had just happpened.

"D-did I brought evelise back? Is she okay…"

A faint pulse glowed across Evelise's chest and gave him the answer. Her black heart shimmered, absorbing the light as small text appeared before Sid's eyes.

Sid's tears wouldn't stop falling as he leaned closer, staring at Evelise's face. Her chest rose and fell faintly, the soft rhythm almost unreal after everything that had happened. He let out a shaky laugh, wiping at his wet eyes.

"You really scared the hell out of me. You're back… you really came back,"

He whispered, brushing his sleeve across his wet cheeks.

"I told you I'd fix it. I told you I wouldn't lose anyone again."

As his tears fell, Evelise's bunny ears twitched. Sid froze mid breath. He saw her fingers shift slightly, the ropes pulling faintly against her wrists. Without wasting a second, he leaned over and began to untie her, his movements careful and slow. The bindings around her wrists came loose first, then her ankles. He hesitated when he reached for the cloth tied around her mouth.

"Okay… easy now. Don't freak out, please,"

He murmured, trying to calm himself as much as her.

"You were just… um, kinda losing it earlier. And I was— uh— trying to help."

He gently untied the knot and pulled the cloth away. The moment her mouth was free, Evelise's eyes snapped open. In an instant, both of her hands shot up and grabbed the sides of Sid's head.

"YOU— YOU CRAZY HUMAN!"

She screamed, her voice shrill and furious.

"Why was I tied up? What were you doing hovering over me with that creepy look on your face? Do you want me to boil your body in hot liquid?!"

Sid's whole body went stiff.

"Wait— what? Creepy look? Boil me? No, I was just—"

"Don't lie! You had those glowing eyes! You looked like a maniac!"

Evelise shouted, her green skin flushed with a strange red hue, her expression caught between fear and embarrassment. Sid raised both hands, stammering helplessly.

"Hey, whoa, calm down! I was— I was trying to save you, okay? You were— uh, trying to eat me!"

"I was what?!"

Evelise's voice cracked with outrage.

"You— you tied me up, and now you're saying I tried to eat you? Are you insane? I'll fucking crucify you for spitting that nonsense!"

She shoved him hard. Sid yelped as he toppled backward, landing flat on the floor. Before he could even recover, Evelise grabbed the nearest pillow, hopped off the bed with an impressive leap, and slammed the pillow straight onto his face.

"Die, you pervert! Die, die, die!"

"Mmmph! Evelise— wait— mmmph— let me— talk—!"

Sid's muffled voice came out in fragments as she pressed the pillow down harder.

"You think you can tie me up and stare at me while I'm sleeping?! You sick, glowing-eyed weirdo!"

She shouted, her face flustered, her ears twitching wildly. Sid finally managed to grab the pillow's edge and pull it off his face, gasping for air.

"I wasn't staring! I mean, I was, but not in that way!"

Evelise blinked, her expression frozen for a second.

"Then in what way?!"

"The 'oh thank God you're alive and I almost died saving you' way! You're welcome, by the way!"
