Apocalypse: King of Zombies

Chapter 771: Too slow…

The mechanical zombies, now fully upgraded, had Crystal Core Blasters mounted on their arms. As they descended, they locked onto the humans on the deck—and unleashed hell.

A barrage of energy blasts tore through the sky like a meteor shower, slamming into the deck with deafening explosions. The shockwaves rippled outward, sending bodies flying.

Several human Awakeners were caught in the blasts, their screams cut short as they were swallowed by the violent energy.

The rest stared in horror, their minds struggling to process what they were seeing.

"Necroterra... has zombies like this?!"

"Jesus Christ—how far have they evolved?!"

"We've gotta stop them! Now!"

"—"

In a rush, the Awakeners activated their powers. Elemental energy surged around them—thick Ice Walls rose, shimmering Tidal Shields formed, barriers of flame and stone erupted to block the incoming fire.

These weren't rookies. The Awakeners here were elite, and they quickly managed to hold the line against the mechanical onslaught.

But just as they started to catch their breath—

A wave of psychic pressure swept in, silent and invisible, but overwhelming. It spread like a fog, blanketing the entire area.

Brows furrowed. Something felt wrong. Deeply wrong.

Then—agony.

The psychic force turned into a thousand steel needles, stabbing straight into their minds.

"AAARGH—!"

Screams tore through the air as Awakeners dropped to their knees, clutching their heads. It felt like boiling oil had been poured into their skulls. Some collapsed entirely, twitching on the deck.

And then, from above, a figure descended slowly through the smoke and chaos.

PhD.

He landed among the fallen like a ghost in a lab coat, his white coat fluttering in the wind, a single monocle glinting coldly in the firelight.

His eyes—calm, calculating—swept across the deck, scanning for one thing: the Dreadnought-class Starcruiser's power core.

"PhD, status?" came a voice behind him.

Hammerhead landed with a heavy thud, his massive frame cracking the deck beneath him.

And he wasn't alone.

More Zombie Kings dropped in one after another—Samara, T-Rex, and Mad Dog from the infamous Japanese Iron Trio. Jerky and Slick from the Dune Twins. Each one radiated raw, lethal power.

They were monsters in every sense of the word—each capable of going toe-to-toe with the strongest human elites.

PhD pointed. "That way."

"CHARGE!" the Zombie Kings roared in unison.

Without hesitation, they surged forward like a pack of apex predators. No questions. No doubts. If PhD gave the order, they followed—blindly, fearlessly.

On the upper decks, human reinforcements arrived, rushing in to defend the ship.

But the moment they saw who they were up against, their steps faltered.

"Oh my god…"

Their blood ran cold.

Mad Dog was already on them. As he sprinted, his mutated bones erupted from his skin, forming a jagged, armored exoskeleton. His arms morphed into razor-sharp bone blades.

With a single leap, he slashed down at a human's head—clean, brutal.

Samara blurred into the crowd, moving faster than the eye could follow. She was a ghost with a blade, cutting down Awakeners before they even realized she was there.

T-Rex, massive and unstoppable, charged straight through elemental attacks, shrugging them off like mosquito bites. He plowed into the defenders like a wrecking ball, roaring as he crushed everything in his path.

The humans didn't stand a chance.

Screams echoed across the deck as the Zombie Kings tore through them, leaving only blood and broken bodies in their wake.

Led by PhD, they stormed the engine room.

"PhD, should we just blow this whole thing up?" Mad Dog asked, his bone blades dripping with blood, eyes wild with excitement.

PhD glanced around, analyzing the structure. "No. Just disable the power transmission system."

Mad Dog blinked. "Why?"

PhD smirked, pulling out a Crystal Core Bomb. "Because… it'll be easier to fix later."

With that, he casually tossed the bomb into the core.

BOOM!

The explosion rocked the ship, a blinding flash of light and heat erupting behind them.

PhD didn't even flinch. He turned and walked away, never once looking back.

Because a true Zombie King… never looks at the explosion.

...

Explosions rocked the entire Dreadnought-class Starcruiser. The alloy hull groaned under the strain, warping with a sickening screech that made everyone's teeth clench.

With the power system sabotaged, the massive ship began to tilt, its balance thrown off.

But a ship this size had multiple propulsion cores. It wasn't going to crash—not yet. Still, it couldn't climb any higher. The engines sputtered, and the ship hung in the air like a wounded beast.

Now, the mighty Dreadnought-class Starcruiser was just... floating. A fortress in the sky, grounded in place.

"Shit! The Dreadnought can't lift off anymore!" someone shouted, panic spreading like wildfire.

Below, thick vines still clung to the underbelly of the ship, and in the distance, the Zombie Horde was closing in—fast.

"Stop them! Don't let the horde climb up!"

Soldiers scrambled, raising their Crystal Core Firearms, while others manned the ship's auxiliary cannons, unleashing a storm of firepower toward the oncoming undead.

The ground shook with every blast. Mushroom clouds bloomed across the battlefield, one after another, as the earth was torn apart by the bombardment.

"ROOOAAARRR—!"

The Zombie Kings answered with fury.

Bulldozer, his massive frame like a charging bull, barreled forward through the chaos. Cannon fire slammed into him, but it barely slowed him down—just left scorched marks on his thick, mutated hide.

"Jesus, that thing's a monster!"

"Only a high-tier Awakener can stop him!"

"I'll handle it!"

A deep voice boomed out, and a towering figure stepped forward.

He was built like a tank—6'6", all muscle, veins bulging beneath his skin like steel cables. A strength-type Awakener, no doubt. And not just any—he was SS+ rank, on par with Garrick. One of humanity's second-tier powerhouses, just below the likes of Howard.

His eyes locked onto Bulldozer, sharp and focused. He crouched low, muscles coiled like a predator ready to pounce.

"You're not getting past me."

His aura surged, power radiating off him in waves. As Bulldozer charged in, the man roared and launched himself forward, fist cocked back.

He aimed straight for Bulldozer's face.

The punch landed with a thunderous BOOM, the kind of impact that could shatter concrete.

But Bulldozer didn't flinch. He met the blow head-on, fist to fist.

BOOOOM!

It was like two mountains colliding. The shockwave blasted outward, cracking the ground beneath them.

Neither gave an inch. Both were thrown back over a hundred feet, skidding across the battlefield.

Bulldozer narrowed his eyes, sizing up his opponent. This guy was no pushover.

The Awakener stood tall, chest heaving, nostrils flaring like a raging bull.

"You won't stop me!" Bulldozer snarled, charging again.

The man didn't back down. He braced himself, ready to meet the charge.

The two titans slammed into each other once more, fists flying, each blow like a cannon shot. They were brawling like beasts, trading hits with brutal force. Neither could gain the upper hand.

But then—

"Too slow…"

A voice, cold and sharp, cut through the chaos.

Laura had arrived.

She stood a short distance away, eyes locked on the two brawlers. Her expression twisted into something feral.

Without warning, she lunged.

The Awakener had just grabbed Bulldozer's arm, winding up for a devastating throw—when a sudden gust of wind and a flash of movement hit him like a freight train.

SHLICK—

His head flew clean off.

Bulldozer blinked, stunned. He hadn't even seen it happen.

The man's body crumpled at his feet, blood pooling fast.

Bulldozer turned, eyes wide, and saw her.

Laura. Slim, deadly, standing just a few feet away.

"No head? Cute," she muttered, almost to herself.

Then, casually, she tossed the man's crystal core to Bulldozer like it was a souvenir.
