Chapter 484: Putting a “Ring” On It

“What are you going to do?” asked Jiang Fei, pretending to be worried.
“What every commander of war would do. Besides, dying on the battlefield is the highest honor a man could earn,” said Heinz with a warm smile. Jiang Fei sighed when he saw that there was not a single shred of fear nor doubt in his smile.
There was a one in a million chance that Heinz could fight and survive a battle against an Overlord-tier opponent. Knowing this, Heinz was adamant about staying behind. Once both Jiang Fei and Isabella had gone through the portal, Heinz would destroy the mini Teleportation Circle to cut off any means of travel to the Demon Flame Fortress.
“Very well. I shall tell the tale of your bravery to the others,” said Jiang Fei as he tried to say something a loyal soldier would. He did not know what was going on yet he was sure that it had something to do with the continuation of the scenario. Even if he wanted to see how the story unfolded, neither he nor Isabella would be able to stand a chance against an Overlord-tier boss.
“You dare to escape?!” cried the same voice. A flash of golden light came down in between Jiang Fei and the mini Teleportation Circle.
“Ah…” Jiang Fei was stunned.
“It’s you-” the Overlord-tier boss gasped at the sight of Jiang Fei.
“Commander Heinz, please take your troops across the portal. I will deal with this myself. Do not worry. I swear that no harm shall befall the princess,” said Jiang Fei as he heroically took a stance against the boss.
“What…?”
Before Heinz could even react to Jiang Fei’s absurd request, Jiang Fei had summoned the Juvenile Skygliding Dragon and flown away.
Heinz was stunned with Jiang Fei’s escape with Isabella and was even more bewildered when the Overlord-tier boss left him and his troops to chase after Jiang Fei.
“Retreat!” cried Heinz as it was his priority to finish what he started. He had already accomplished his mission and there was nothing left for him to do. Once everyone had already entered the portal, Heinz glanced back at the direction where Jiang Fei had flown to and placed a bomb at the mini Teleportation Circle before going inside the portal.
30 seconds later, the bomb detonated and the portal was destroyed, leaving nothing but a decimated town. Right now, the only way the Light Faction could rescue their Saint was to launch an all-out attack at the Demon Flame Fortress. However, like the town, the Demon’s fortress was protected by many towers and defensive weapons that were far more superior. Bring your Overlords because not even they could withstand the defense of the Demon Flame Fortress.
Back to where Jiang Fei was, he had returned to where he had first landed. The hills where herbs and minerals were in abundance.
When Jiang Fei landed, a light pillar flashed down from the sky and a beautiful young girl came out of it.
“Hmph!” Isabella scoffed as she hugged Jiang Fei from behind.
“I finally meet you again…” said the young girl with powerful emotions of bittersweet and longing.
“Uhm…”
Jiang Fei could not say anything at the moment. The young beautiful girl that was the Overlord-tier boss was the assassin of the Luminous Church, Sylphy. A long time ago, Jiang Fei had used Heartfelt on this NPC, thinking that he could at least gain a powerful spy in the Light Faction. Little did he know that he had unlocked a hidden setting in the game that made an opposite gender NPC be madly in love with him! Heartfelt was an item that would ignore all necessary requirements and increase one’s relationship points to the maximum amount.
“Hmph!” Isabella scoffed again, this time, even louder and more pompous. Her hands had even moved toward Jiang Fei’s waist this time. It looked like she was preventing Jiang Fei from moving away from her!
“Uhm… What are you doing here?” asked Jiang Fei shyly. He understood that he was in between two girls. In reality, he would immediately have a headache. He would never think that it would be the same in the game.
“I was checking on the defensive post of the Divine Light Fortress when I heard that the Saint of the Moonlight Church was taken away. The Teleportation Circle was reported to be destroyed. With no reinforcements, I was forced to come here. Thank the gods for it since I am able to see you again…”
While Sylphy was explaining the reason she came to the town, her complexion was rather normal. However, when she reached to last sentence, her face turned as red as a tomato and she began to rub her fingers together whilst fidgeting like a little girl. However, she did not avert her eyes but stared at Jiang Fei emotionally.
‘What a troublesome feature this is…’ thought Jiang Fei.
At that moment, when Sylphy was bashfully confessing her affection to Jiang Fei, Isabella was hugging Jiang Fei’s waist so tightly that she was practically crushing him. Even though the pain setting was set to only 10%, he could still feel it.
“It’s your fault! Why would you use such an item in the first place!” Isabella whispered angrily. At this point, the airhead Jiang Fei finally saw the signal; Isabella was madly jealous.
“Uhm… What did you say about the defensive post again?” said Jiang Fei to Sylphy.
“In twenty days, we will start a war with the Dark faction!” said Sylphy. Being madly in love with Jiang Fei, she had nothing to hide from him and would not think twice about revealing top secret military information to him.
‘Twenty days? Isn’t that the day that the game developers will release a new patch?’ thought Jiang Fei.
While Jiang Fei was thinking to himself, Sylphy came down to her knees and begged Jiang Fei.
“Please take me with you! I was miserable without you. Ever since that day, you have been in my mind for every second of my life!” cried Sylphy.
Jiang Fei froze like a popsicle. That was the first time Jiang Fei had ever been confessed to.
“Gyaaah!”
Isabella had had it. Even though she had already tolerated Jiang Fei for even talking to a girl, she could not take it any longer when some chick knelt down to him and even asking him to take her away! All of a sudden, Isabella jumped to Jiang Fei’s shoulder and bit down hard.
“Waaawawawa!” cried Jiang Fei. Isabella’s bite was very much painful. Even when the pain setting was only at 10%, he could feel every little bit of pain. It was as if an alligator had chomped on his shoulder!
If Isabella was in her original state, her intense jealousy would only make her mad. In the worst-case scenario, Isabella might even challenge Sylphy to a fight. However, Isabella’s draconian genes had kicked in. For dragons, a mother would be very loyal to her spouse while the husband would be loitering around, trying to procreate as much as they like. Since the male dragons were better in socializing, they got along well with many other races and had the ability to procreate with other races as well. Hence, there were many kinds of sub-draconian species roaming the world. The female dragons had had it. Hence, to prevent their spouse from simply sticking it into unwanted places, they would bite their spouses, leaving behind a huge visible mark that would signify the male had already been “taken”.
No matter which species, as long as they were female, they would feel a powerful aura from a male with a dragon bite mark. It was to scare away other females from even trying to “get it on” with the male dragon. A similar fashion to putting a ring on a finger.
At that moment, Isabella had that feeling. The feeling of a female dragon losing her male partner to another female. Hence, to prevent anyone from claiming him away, Isabella bit down into his shoulder to leave a mark.
“Young lady, what are you doing?!” cried Jiang Fei as he lifted Isabella off his shoulder slowly and gently. Even so, the bite mark left behind was deep and he was already bleeding. He was wearing armor, the Lightbringer’s Armament. Even though it was as powerful as it was sturdy, the Durability of the armor had been reduced to zero. He needed to return to town to have it mended before he could join another fight. As he examined his bleeding shoulder, he noticed that there was an odd scar left behind as the bite mark started to heal.
