Vireah Empire
Inside the royal palace.
The hot sun's rays sneaked into the hall, where no one was speaking, everyone was too busy staring at each other.
Seated around a large table were Tiberan, Avario, and Garran.
Behind the former stood Jareth, who, despite the royal palace probably being the safest place in the world, hadn't lowered his guard for even a moment.
On the other hand, Senna stood leisurely beside Garran but this would be the last time he would stand next to him.
Once the coronation ended, his duty would change, and with that, he would serve the new emperor of this world. He had already sworn that.
"Say, do you think the new emperor is a good fit for the role?" Tiberan asked, breaking the long silence that had lasted for minutes on end.
Avaro pondered briefly before saying, "If this were a normal time, I would've never accepted it, but…" He looked at Garran and Senna before continuing, "with all the support he has, and with little to no conflicts, it will be a breeze."
Garran nodded. "Even if he makes a mistake, there will be people to correct it. Changing emperors now isn't a big deal, what truly matters is the change of the ruling country."
The atmosphere was awkward. This was the first time the two kings had spoken with the emperor in such a setting. To make matters worse, they weren't engaging in small talk; instead, they were already envisioning the possible problems that might arise in the future because of today's events.
Senna, hearing what they said, sighed, attracting their attention.
"What is it?" Garran asked.
"You're not seeing this situation from the right perspective."
Senna took a deep breath and said, "If no country causes problems for the others, then whoever is emperor or king won't matter. In fact, a king will have far more free time to spend during the day, while the emperor will need to study every territory and navigate the political landscape of four nations."
He looked at Garran and said, "You should know best how it feels to be an emperor."
Avaro and Tiberan fell silent.
Garran nodded and replied, "Perhaps this is good. I needed a vacation anyway." At that moment, an invisible weight was lifted off his chest, and he seemed to have turned ten years younger.
Creak
Suddenly, the door to the hall opened, and all the heads in the room swiveled toward it.
"You're the pillars of this world, and you're already lazing around. Incredible."
Leading the group was Nova, who had just spoken, flanked by Letto and Granier.
The leaders could only smile wryly at his comment, knowing full well they had no way to counter it nor they dared to at this point.
"So that's the new emperor?" Garran muttered under his breath.
Letto greeted the rulers, his etiquette had been refined over the past month by Granier and by now there were no issues with it.
Then, along with Nova, he took a seat, while Granier stepped behind him.
Nova leaned back in his chair and asked, "By the way, how will the coronation take place?"
He was wondering how everything would be going down as he'd never been part of neither an empire nor a kingdom.

"I planned to go about it in two steps," Garran said. "First, I'll abdicate the throne and announce the change of the nation that rules over the others. Once that segment is over, I'll call him", his gaze shifted to Letto, "the new emperor, to give his speech and complete the coronation. I believe this is the easiest way for the citizens to understand, and we won't need to gather a second time just to declare who will rule."
"What do you think?" Garran's eyes swept across everyone in the room.
"No objections," Avaro and Tiberan said in unison.
Letto thought for a moment, glancing at Granier, who gave a subtle nod. Only then did he say, "I agree with your plan as well."
Clap.
Nova clapped his hands and said, "Good. Since you've got the situation under control, I'll take a stroll around."
He stood up, winked at them, and left.
Letto couldn't help but think, What's gotten into him? He's acting strange all of a sudden.
It was undeniable that, as soon as Nova left the room, everyone's bodies involuntarily relaxed, even though they hadn't realized they were tense in the first place.
Garran then said, "Alright, this is how it will play out…"
While the rulers were busy rehearsing the coronation that would soon take place, Nova strolled through the royal palace, lost in thought.
'I can't wait to get out of this portal already. I don't like farewells at all.' His thoughts soon turned to someone he wanted to find but hadn't managed to. 'Now that I think about it, where did Melissa go? Must be her luck. Although I didn't put much effort into finding her, I did ask around at the Magic Tower, but nobody could tell me where she was…'
"Sir!" At that moment, he heard someone calling him.
"Hmm?" He stopped and turned, only to see Deborah quickly making her way over from across the corridor.
Once she stood in front of him, she panted slightly and said, "Sir, where are you going?"
"I'm only walking around to clear my head," Nova replied.
Deborah nodded. "Do you mind if I accompany you?"
Nova gave her a light smile. "I don't mind."
The two walked through the vast royal palace, making idle chatter as minutes slipped by.
The time for the main event had arrived and was already in full swing, but the two didn't care and continued walking.
Nova had already accomplished what he came for and couldn't wait to leave as soon as possible, while Deborah paid no mind to politics. She was simply enjoying a walk through the palace with someone who had, in a way, become a savior to her.
At some point, Deborah asked softly, "What will you do now?"
"Hmm." Nova considered carefully but could think of only one thing. "I'll go home and rest."
"Home? Where are you from, Sir?" Her curiosity was piqued.
Nova's eyes seemed to see Earth before him as he muttered, "A place far away from here."
Deborah chuckled lightly. "Sir, you must be jesting. There's no place too far for someone like you."
Indeed, with Nova's speed, there was no place in this world that was truly distant for him.
He looked at her and smiled deeply but offered no explanation.
The two fell into another silence, crossing many more halls until…

Notifications rang in his mind, filling it with mission information and making his steps falter.
'The more I look at those rewards, the more I want to pull my hair out,' Nova sighed internally.
Just looking at the EXP he would gain, he already knew his strength was about to soar, shooting through the roof. But… just when he had the confidence to sweep through a Purple portal, the difficulty was about to increase tremendously.
This carrot-and-stick feeling… he didn't know if he liked it or not.
"Are you alright, Sir?" Deborah asked quickly, noticing Nova nearly stumble. Her face was full of worry.
"Yeah, I was too immersed in my thoughts," Nova said, making Deborah wonder how someone as strong as him could still trip but she didn't press the issue and simply nodded.
Then, Nova looked at her and, knowing he would soon leave, softly said, "I need you to pass on a message to Letto later."
"Hmm? Me?" She looked at him in puzzlement.
Nodding, he continued, "It's nothing much, but I want you to tell him, 'Good luck.'"
Good luck? Just that? Can't he say it himself to him?
Deborah didn't think too much about it and readily agreed.
[Portal will close in 10:00]
Right then, a portal opened a few steps in front of Nova, its swirling colors humming softly.
The sight of such a scene caused Deborah's eyes to widen. She watched Nova take a step toward it as if he already expected the portal to appear and, coupled with his earlier words, she seemed to understand something, even though she didn't know where the portal led.
Hurriedly, she asked, "Will I see you again?"
Nova lightly mouthed a word and stepped inside the portal.
Deborah watched his figure disappear, and then the portal closed.
Her ears rang with a single word:
"Perhaps."
