The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 16: Six Paths of Reincarnation (5 more)

In the darkness, Sun Wukong traveled alone for a long time before he saw several ghosts slowly flying towards a certain place.

"It's there."

A spark flashed in Sun Wukong's eyes, and he immediately dashed over.

"Boom"

An invisible barrier blocked his way.

It was the boundary between life and death.

"Open up for me!"

Sun Wukong threw a punch, and the barrier opened in response.

He entered the Netherworld along with the ghosts.

However, upon entering the Netherworld, Sun Wukong was greatly surprised.

The Netherworld should have been an independent world, judging the virtues and vices of life, and governing punishment and reincarnation.

But here, all he could see was desolation.

The ground swirled with unyielding gusts of gloomy wind, and under the blood-clouded gloomy sky, lay scattered bones everywhere.

Iron chains, cauldrons, and various torture instruments were scattered across the land, broken and rusted, their original appearances long unrecognizable, and the magma in the Blood River had dried up into ugly black stones.

"How could this be?"

Sun Wukong sped forward, discovering a ruin in the distance.

It was the Ghost Gate.

The Ghost Gate had completely collapsed, its walls and barriers eroded by wind, leaving only the foundations and traces of streets.

This place had been desolate through countless cycles of reincarnation.

Sun Wukong did not sense the presence of any custodians.

In the vast Ghost Gate, not to mention King Yan, there wasn't even a single ghost soldier.

Yet the Netherworld was still operating, and Sun Wukong saw that all the deceased souls came here, like puppets, being drawn by an invisible force, numbly marching forward.

Without the ghost soldiers, why were these souls so well-behaved?

Sun Wukong found it incredible and followed the procession of ghosts deeper.

Along the way he flew for a long time, seeing no change, all was the long-abandoned desolate scene.

At the end of the road stood a massive wheel.

"The Six Paths of Reincarnation."

Sun Wukong understood.

Although the Underworld was empty, the power of life to reincarnation was still present.

And not just present, but unimaginably strong—the Six Paths of Reincarnation radiated light, its aura even stronger than the Six Paths of Reincarnation of the Three Realms.

This power, in place of King Yan and the ghost soldiers, controlled the minds of all souls who entered, directing them towards the Six Paths of Reincarnation.

Sun Wukong observed that the Six Paths of Reincarnation could even actively distinguish between good and evil, guiding different souls to different paths.

"Truly inconceivable."

He reached out and touched the Six Paths of Reincarnation.

In an instant, countless images and sounds flashed through his mind.

"The world is going to be destroyed, all creatures will die, we must pour all our power into the Six Paths of Reincarnation."

"As long as reincarnation exists, there is still hope for this world!"

That was countless Immortals, numerous Immortal Lights, infusing endless power into the Six Paths of Reincarnation before the destruction of the world.

Sun Wukong felt a wave of sadness.

Although he had been suspecting it.

But this world, indeed, was a world already destroyed.

Countless cycles of reincarnation ago, this world, like the Three Realms, possessed a Heavenly Realm, Mortal Realm, and Netherworld. Now, both the Heavenly Realm and Netherworld have disappeared, with the Mortal Realm constrained by Heavenly Destiny.

Reincarnation occurred in this world time and again, like an endless dream.

Sun Wukong withdrew his hand, gathered his thoughts, then saw a figure gradually approaching.

"Princess."

He recognized the figure and quickly flew over, grabbing her hand: "You can't go through."

"Baby..."

The Princess murmured, "Where is my turtle baby?"

She disregarded everything and continued moving forward.

Sun Wukong slightly frowned, realizing she too was controlled by the Six Paths of Reincarnation.

"I have no choice but to take her away by force!"

Thinking this, Sun Wukong took the Princess and left the procession of ghosts, intending to forcibly take her away.

However, just as they left the group and had only walked a few steps, the Six Paths of Reincarnation suddenly emitted a sharp sound. Black lines as thick as wrists shot out, binding Sun Wukong.

"Curse!"

Sun Wukong looked at the black lines on his body and his expression slightly changed.

The Six Paths of Reincarnation guards the common people in its own way and has its operating rules. Whoever tries to disrupt it will be cursed.

Sun Wukong lifted his head and said to the Six Paths of Reincarnation: "I know your mission, but I must take her with me. Release me."

The black lines tightened more.

Sun Wukong furrowed his brows, finding himself in a difficult situation.

He couldn't harm the Six Paths of Reincarnation but he had to take the Princess with him.

"If that's the case."

Sun Wukong released his Protective Immortal Light.

The brilliant Immortal Light instantly burned through the black lines on his body.

Countless humanoid black mists began to fly out from the Six Paths of Reincarnation.

"Go!"

Sun Wukong waved his hand and streaks of golden light shot out from his hand, suddenly intertwining into a splendid golden net in mid-air.

The black mists, completely unprepared, collided directly into it and burned into ashes in mid-air.

The battle between Sun Wukong and the Six Paths of Reincarnation swiftly unfolded.

However, a mindless Six Paths of Reincarnation was no match for Sun Wukong. In just a moment, Sun Wukong had shattered its counterattack.

During the fight, Sun Wukong sensed something else within the Six Paths of Reincarnation and casually pulled out a black book.

"The Book of Life and Death."

Sun Wukong was somewhat surprised.

The Book of Life and Death struggled in his hands for a long time, then finally lay quietly in Sun Wukong's hands, motionless.

The pitch-black pages turned back to white, and the words on them unfolded one by one.

Sun Wukong found the Princess's name.

"Judge's Pen."

Sun Wukong reached out his hand and grasped it, and the previously vanished Judge's Pen appeared in his hand. He used it to add a few years to the Princess's life.

In that moment, a hint of clarity seemed to return to the Princess's eyes.

She looked at Sun Wukong, in the Netherworld, floating in front of the Six Paths of Reincarnation, like a radiant Immortal.

The sparkling light was too intense to look directly at.

The Six Paths of Reincarnation seemed to sense something too, as its offensive stopped.

It emitted a light, gently leaning towards Sun Wukong.

"The Heavenly Emperor, the Heavenly Emperor has appeared!"

Sun Wukong lifted his head, as if he could see the excited faces of some Immortals.

"Heavenly Emperor, we always knew you would save us again!"

Voices came from within the light.

Sun Wukong closed his eyes heavily: "I am not your Heavenly Emperor."

The Six Paths of Reincarnation had mistaken him for the ruler of the Three Realms.

Sun Wukong sighed, put away the Book of Life and Death, and walked away with the Princess.

Meanwhile, in the Dragon Palace, Gong Gong and Nuwa had tried everything but were still unable to awaken the Princess.

Just then, Sun Wukong returned.

"Step aside."

He asked Nuwa and Gong Gong to move away and walked to the bedside.

"Go back."

He grabbed and tapped in the air with his right hand, and a phantom fell into the Princess's body.

Then, Sun Wukong performed the Soul Stabilizing Technique, and a beam of Immortal Light shot into the Princess's body.

The Princess's body jolted sharply, and then, her eyes opened.

Her eyes gradually cleared up: "What is this..."

"Princess!"

The Dragon King rushed over, overjoyed.
