The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 415: Naughty and Cute

Underworld, all sorts of ghosts and ghouls slaughtering each other.

Amidst the screams, countless prison guards transformed into black tides rushing towards the Ghost Gate.

Chujiang King stood in the distance, delighted to witness this scene.

"Without the Wanling Heavenly Dao, they are nothing but this."

He cheerfully said.

Since the Wanling Heavenly Dao was weakened, the defense of the Ghost Gate had become extremely fragile.

Those newly born prison guards simply couldn't stop their army.

"Don't know when there will be a change, we should finish this sooner."

King Songdi reminded.

"That's right."

Chujiang King dared not be negligent, just about to launch a bigger offensive, the sky suddenly brightened as if it were daylight.

"What happened?"

He looked up, seeing sheer beams of light descending from the clouds.

Those beams appeared suddenly, illuminating the Netherworld, flying towards the ghosts on the ground.

At the Ghost Gate, teenagers and girls jointly struck by five Kings Yan, fiercely landed on the ground from a hundred meters high.

Their bodies, if intermittently visible, just about to disappear, suddenly a light fell upon them.

Those intermittently visible bodies solidified once again.

The Kings Yan were greatly surprised.

"What is this?"

Light descended from the sky, and one spectacle after another manifested beneath their feet.

The prison guards stopped advancing, and their attack halted as well.

They looked up at the sky, clearly enemies in front of them, yet the battle strangely paused.

They remembered.

Remembered everything.

"Attack, attack, why not attack... ah..."

King Taishan, restless, was struck by the light, first stunned, then shuddered all over.

"Cease fire, stop!"

He shouted loudly, and the prison guards in the distance also halted their advance.

Outside the Ghost Gate, beams of light successively fell on the bodies of the nine Kings Yan, and two hundred years of memories returned to their bodies.

"My lords, why have we stopped the attack?"

A Judge behind them asked.

The nine Kings Yan silently, knowing all of the past two hundred years, they understood why King Qinguang had rebelled.

That Sun Wukong, he was originally a Heavenly Venerate in charge of the Underworld after all!

"What should we do?"

The Kings Yan looked at each other, unsure whether to continue the battle.

At this moment, the dawn breaking across thousands of miles, a girl rubbing her eyes flew up into the sky.

"My lady."

The Kings Yan's eyes were drawn to her.

"Stop it."

Houtu, with her dark circles, said, "Buddha intended to suppress Sun Wukong, but it resulted in the release of all beings within the Wanling Realm."

"Once those beings are out, the world will change dramatically."

Houtu said, "It's decided now."

"Lingshan has fallen."

With these words, all weapons in the hands of the prison guards fell to the ground.

The General —

The moment the people of the small world awoke, it was destined that Sun Wukong would turn defeat into victory.

Heavenly Palace, a tornado rose amidst the flames, tearing the space, and emitting a mighty roar.

On the burning battlefield, Jade Emperor raised his head, looking at countless beams of light descending from the sky.

Two hundred years of memories flashed through his mind.

"Your Majesty."

The Immortals one by one stopped attacking, kneeling in front of him.

Jade Emperor turned around, looking back.

At the site of the Heavenly Gate, streams of Immortal Light were leaving.

Like moths to a flame, these Immortals were departing from the Heavenly Gate, flying towards the west.

Star Official threw off his crown, leapt, and spread his wings flying towards the Western Continent, with absolute resolve.

These were the Immortals of Wanling Country, they were going to save Sun Wukong.

The tide had turned.

The Jade Emperor thought this in his mind.

Lifeforms awakened with memories, the fate of the Three Realms solidified, perhaps with no chance of reversal.

People will remember the tale of the small world once again.

The legend of Sun Wukong will once again illuminate the entire Three Realms.

He is not a demon, but a hero.

A true hero.

"No match ... "

Jade Emperor stood under the vast radiant light, feeling a sense of powerlessness engulf his entire body.

He had experienced this sense of powerlessness several times before, but now it felt particularly evident.

Even Lingshan unleashing its full force could not stop Sun Wukong.

He had calculated everything, even Buddha could not compare.

"Is this what mortals feel?"

Jade Emperor thought to himself.

Do mortals feel this way when they face the Immortals, just as he now feels in facing Sun Wukong?

Perhaps, even more intensely…

Jade Emperor closed his eyes, slowly gathering his thoughts.

Upon opening his eyes again, Yuqing and Shangqing appeared before him.

"In the end, I am still no match for the Imperial Brother."

Jade Emperor said.

"Your Majesty."

The two Qings bowed deeply and said, "Please make another decision."

The Immortals all looked over.

Although they remembered the tale of those two hundred years, the impact on Immortals was not as profound as it was on mortals.

At this point, a new choice presented itself to Jade Emperor.

Jade Emperor looked towards the Heavenly Palace engulfed in flames.

A tree was burning in the fire.

"Let go of the desire for victory..."

Someone under the tree said.

It was Master Puti guarding the Heavenly Palace, surrounded by his many disciples, all injured, yet none fled.

Jade Emperor slowly walked over.

"The battle is now entirely meaningless."

He faced Master Puti and said, "Grandmaster, how about joining me for another game of chess?"

The Grandmaster nodded slightly.

The two had worked together in a minor world for a time, and playing chess was their common hobby.

"Set up the chess."

The Grandmaster ordered his disciples to arrange the chessboard under the tree.

"Let's begin."

Jade Emperor sat at one end.

The Grandmaster sat at the other end.

"What lies beyond the Three Realms?"

He asked.

"These Three Realms are but a cage."

Jade Emperor, taking the first move, answered, "There is a Great Divine Power waiting outside the cage. Venturing out now would surely lead to destruction."

"Is that the great catastrophe of two hundred years?"

The Grandmaster asked again.

"Perhaps it is, perhaps it is not."

Jade Emperor shook his head.

He had heard from the Eastern Buddha about a threat beyond the Three Realms, but he did not know if this was the catastrophe in two hundred years' time.

It might be two separate things, or it might be one, but there is definitely danger beyond the realms.

"Buddha believes that we cannot face the Great Divine Power."

Jade Emperor said, "The Three Realms have their own barrier. Hidden here, that person cannot enter. Perhaps we only need to face the great catastrophe of two hundred years later."

The Grandmaster understood.

No wonder the Buddha did whatever he could to stop Sun Wukong, fearing that he would venture out on his own.

"Imperial Brother has left no strategy untried, and even Buddha sacrificing himself could not stop him."

Jade Emperor said, "In this way—no one can stop Imperial Brother now."

The Grandmaster nodded and placed the piece in front of Jade Emperor.

"My disciple is naughty and lovable, he must be able to overcome the danger."

Jade Emperor smiled: "What if he can't?"

He knew how powerful the Wanling Heavenly Dao was.

But could Sun Wukong truly lead all beings to overcome the danger?

"I have fears."

Jade Emperor picked up a chess piece and gently placed it down, "Let me test Imperial Brother once more."

A new piece fell to the ground.
