The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 313: Immortal Dao Transformation

Sun Wukong returned to Kunlun Mountain, and everything seemed to calm down.

He stayed in the Scripture Pavilion, studying and teaching the young Phoenix.

Most of what he taught was about governance. Although the young Phoenix was dissatisfied, she learned very quickly, to Sun Wukong's surprise.

Meanwhile, in Wanling Country, although Ao Luan occasionally sent some Buddhist news, no anomalies had occurred.

Sun Wukong's worried heart gradually settled.

The immortals of the Heavenly Palace were continuously studying and researching the Wanling Immortal Path, occasionally presenting Sun Wukong with some interesting creations.

While their creations were indeed interesting, none were the epoch-making treasures that Sun Wukong hoped for.

This was partly because the immortals were still in the process of learning.

On the other hand, the Wanling Immortal Path itself had limitations which did not allow the immortals to fully utilize their creativity.

Although the Wanling Immortal Path was always proclaimed as an Immortal Path, up to now, its creations still remained confined to human Daoist Skill.

Exceptions like Ao Luan's Creation Skill also involved very complex models.

Sun Wukong had always wanted to address this problem, hoping to enhance the Wanling Immortal Path, simplify it again, and make it easier to create true Immortal Laws.

He had been reading extensively in the Scripture Pavilion, aiming to create this version 2.0 of the Wanling Immortal Path.

After years of attempts and research, he felt confident.

That day, he called the Night Patrol Deity.

"I am going to the Southern Continent, watch over the young Phoenix and make sure she doesn't slack off,"

Sun Wukong said to the Night Patrol Deity.

"Yes,"

The Night Patrol Deity nodded in agreement.

Sun Wukong left Kunlun Mountain, transforming into a golden light and flying to the Southern Continent.

Returning here, as he looked over the vast land, a sense of closeness he had never felt before emerged in his heart.

"Those statues have started to take effect,"

Sun Wukong realized that Liu Che's actions were effective.

He transformed into human form and landed at the Imperial Palace.

"Great Saint,"

The guards recognized him instantly and hurriedly ushered him into the Imperial Palace.

Liu Che, having just concluded the morning court, hurriedly asked, "Great Saint, what brings you today?"

"I've come to tell you that I am going to transform the Wanling Immortal Path,"

Sun Wukong stated.

Liu Che was startled. "Why transform it?"

"To accommodate the Three Thousand Immortal Paths,"

Sun Wukong replied.

The transformed Wanling Immortal Path would truly encompass the Three Thousand Immortal Paths.

If all goes well, the new Wanling Immortal Path would grant the immortals greater creativity, allowing them to create genuine Immortal Laws.

"I want to ask Your Majesty, should the Spiritual Network of the Southern Continent also be transformed?"

Sun Wukong asked.

Although he didn't govern the Southern Continent, as long as the Human Clan approved, he could find a way.

Liu Che pondered internally; while this seemed beneficial, it could potentially bring disaster.

"Let's not,"

Liu Che said. "At this point, the Wanling Immortal Path is already difficult for us to control."

While the increase in cultivators brought prosperity to the Southern Continent through the Wanling Immortal Path, it also burdened the governance of the Human King.

Drawing from numerous experiences in Wanling Country, he still found some matters troublesome.

"If Immortal Laws appear, it will be beyond our control,"

Liu Che declared.

If the Wanling Immortal Path of the Southern Continent were elevated to produce Immortal Laws and then fell into the hands of some ambitious figures, the disaster would be tremendous.

The Human Clan, unlike the Wanling Country where immortals were prevalent, Liu Che was very cautious.

"I have considered this,"

Sun Wukong nodded.

Not to mention the Southern Continent, if Immortal Laws proliferated, even Wanling Country might struggle to control them.

Especially at a time when Buddha was closely watching, if Immortal Laws appeared among the common people, the pressure on rulers would be immense.

"Immortal Laws will be executed by a different kind of Spiritual Energy,"

Sun Wukong continued to explain to Liu Che: "As long as it's controlled properly, it won't spread."

Liu Che still shook his head.

"Great Saint, have you ever heard of the crime of possessing a jaded gem?"

He asked.

Sun Wukong was surprised that he would say this.

However, since he mentioned it, Sun Wukong didn't insist and gave up immediately.

Leaving the Southern Continent, Sun Wukong returned to Huaguo Mountain.

"Great King."

Four old monkeys greeted him: "What brings you back today?"

"I need to seal myself off for some days."

Sun Wukong confined himself in Shuilian Cave.

He sat cross-legged, calmed his mind, and started studying the Wanling Diagram.

The vast information contained in the Wanling Diagram and its conflict with him continued; their tight connection caused an extremely heavy mental burden on Sun Wukong.

"I wonder when I will be able to withstand it."

Sun Wukong couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

While absorbing information from the Wanling Diagram, his soul was also adapting to it, but it seemed like something was still missing, unsure of when he could endure it.

"Forget it."

Sun Wukong began to modify the Wanling Diagram.

He did not dare to make significant changes, handling it with extreme care.

Under his modifications, the Wanling Diagram gradually began to change.

Those were subtle changes, yet they influenced the entire Three Great Continents.

Slowly, some fine runes appeared on the Wanling Diagram.

"Hm?"

In the Wanling Hall, while discussing matters with others, Ao Luan noticed a glow emitting from her body.

"What is this?"

Immortals also felt something was amiss.

Their spiritual energy, as if resonating with something, began to transform.

"Wanling Immortal Dao."

Immortal Zhenyuan quickly realized that the glow was not the immortals' own power, but from the Wanling Immortal Dao they carried.

Those who did not carry immortal dao showed no changes.

Ao Luan watched as the transparent spiritual energy on her body transformed into more spirited particles.

She stretched out her hand, watching those particles dance on her palms like fireflies.

"This is..."

"Immortal Energy."

Grandmaster spoke: "It emits Immortal Energy."

"Immortal Energy?"

Ao Luan's eyes lit up.

Her brother had finally taken this step.

But then she was startled again.

"Great Immortal!"

Ao Luan said to Immortal Zhenyuan, "Go outside and see if others are experiencing the same."

Immortal Zhenyuan was startled, then nodded.

"This girl is growing sharper, even quicker to react than me."

Thinking this, he left the Wanling Hall.

"What's happening?"

Other immortals were still immersed in shock.

"Stay calm."

Master Puti said: "This Immortal Energy is special, it must be controlled."

If he wasn't mistaken, such power shouldn't appear on mortals.

"Only immortals can alter the properties of spiritual energy."

The grandmaster thought, and after Immortal Zhenyuan came back in, indeed, he saw no such phenomenon among the demons.

The immortals all breathed a sigh of relief.

The grandmaster secretly nodded, his disciple indeed didn't make a mistake.

But concerning this entirely new power, they were still completely puzzled.
