The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 280: Pioneering Freedom

Solid white fist shadows continuously collided with frequent lightning, breaking apart, even many striking the White Dragon.

The violent wind grew even more piercing, carrying large raindrops that pelted the ground like a blanket.

In a world of bleak white lightning, with dense curtains of rain, the audience seemed to have disappeared, leaving only the two of them locked in solitary battle.

Sun Wukong's body was covered in scars, his clothes soaked and tattered, yet he didn't care.

The White Dragon's eyes were bloodshot, its hair and beard bristled, unceasingly controlling the lightning to strike.

The resonance of Spells echoed across the heavens and earth, when suddenly, a dazzling beam of light slashed through the dark clouds.

The White Dragon let out a brief, painful cry as bright red blood scattered across the sky.

"Got you!"

Sun Wukong suddenly grasped the dragon's horn, mounting the White Dragon.

"Let go of me!"

The White Dragon twisted its body and struggled violently, its form rapidly tumbling and weaving through the dark clouds.

Sun Wukong gritted his teeth and held on, Spiritual Energy forming a shield around him to block the fierce wind and rain.

"Give up, Ao Luan."

Sun Wukong called out to the White Dragon: "Stop being stubborn."

"I won't, I don't like humans!"

Ao Luan roared.

Amid the interweaving thunder and lightning, the will of the Spiritual Network continuously transmitted through the Round Ball into her mind, resonating strongly with her intense longing, reaching Sun Wukong.

A familiar scene appeared before Sun Wukong's eyes.

Ao Luan's overflowing nostalgia and memories intertwined.

"So that's how it is..."

Sun Wukong smiled: "You are that fish!"

Things turned out to be unexpectedly simple.

Due to past experiences, Ao Luan never cared about the life and death of the Human Clan.

"Ao Luan."

Sun Wukong pressed his head against Ao Luan's head.

"If you don't want to accept the consciousness of the Spiritual Network, then accept me."

In that moment, Ao Luan seemed to see time reverse, glimpsing the world inside Sun Wukong's heart.

It was a beautiful, vast world where symphonies that were captivating, both strong and melodious, circled the skies, and the ground was filled with warm light.

Among those lights, buds pierced through the tough surface, turning into fragrant flowers swaying on the earth.

Mountain springs and streams flowed beside blossoms, joining the surging rivers to form an immense ocean.

"Look, Ao Luan, look at this world."

Sun Wukong spoke: "Look at this vast, boundless land."

His voice was full of anticipation.

Ao Luan struggled relentlessly, not wanting to accept that consciousness, but unable to resist.

She saw the floating clouds and the deep blue sky, where Giant Dragons and Phoenixes soared freely.

The earth was illuminated by the light of life, the mountains and forests echoed with the sounds of deer and melodious birdsong.

"Life is unending, forever flowing."

Sun Wukong spoke to her in his heart.

"Brother, it's not necessary..."

Ao Luan tried to escape from that vast perspective.

"Look."

But Sun Wukong did not stop.

"Feel it with your heart, see it."

"I am not for this world."

Sun Wukong stated.

"Brother..."

Ao Luan's eyes welled up, feeling a desire to cry.

"I am for myself."

Sun Wukong continued: "To find companions."

That supreme longing, along with the anticipation, entered Ao Luan's mind.

This is his heart.

The future Sun Wukong pursues is where all life transcends boundaries, where all creatures can run freely.

Be it a hundred years or ten million years, they're just the moment before the future, and for that moment afterwards, he is also seeking companions.

"I don't want to know so much, I just want my brother."

Tears streamed down Ao Luan's face: "I just want to be by my brother's side."

"I'm right here."

Sun Wukong stroked Ao Luan's horn, saying: "Ao Luan, I'm right here."

Ao Luan cried, struggling but gradually weakening under his touch.

Her obsession, under Sun Wukong's gentleness, seemed so insignificant that it gradually faded away.

"Come forward with me."

When she no longer resisted, Sun Wukong released his hand.

He flew in front of Ao Luan.

"We'll go together."

With his back to the vast land, Sun Wukong reached out to Ao Luan.

"Everyone will be our companion, by joining hands and moving forward, we can accomplish anything we want."

Sun Wukong said with a smile.

Ao Luan looked at Sun Wukong with teary eyes.

His smile was as always, warm and bright, slowly dispelling the narrowness and prejudice in her heart, brightening her entire perspective.

So pure, so simple...

This was her elder brother, the person she loved the most.

Ao Luan's voice trembled: "Brother, do you not despise me?"

"No..."

Sun Wukong replied: "I do not despise you, not now, nor in the future."

Ao Luan looked at Sun Wukong, gradually stopped crying, and then transformed into human form.

The girl stood in front of Sun Wukong, extending her right hand.

"You must promise me, brother, to take me with you wherever you go from now on."

"Alright."

Sun Wukong took Ao Luan's hand: "At that time, together with the Immortals, we will explore more places."

"You blockhead."

Ao Luan couldn't help but smile through her tears.

"What?"

"Nothing."

Ao Luan wiped her tears with her left hand.

Sun Wukong was not perfect; to her, he was the most boring person in the world.

But she had understood that Sun Wukong's heart always embraced the universe, not belonging to anyone.

Ao Luan had always looked up to and followed him.

Today, she finally understood.

Just as Sun Wukong tolerated her, she was willing to tolerate his imperfections.

"Brother, no matter what you do, I will forgive you."

Ao Luan held tightly onto Sun Wukong.

Even if he was a man who could never touch or fall in love with someone, she would still love him.

Sun Wukong smiled, seemingly relieved, and his body began to dissolve into dust.

"Brother, are you going to sleep again?"

Ao Luan felt a pang in her heart, knowing what was about to happen.

"Yes."

Sun Wukong nodded: "It has found me."

"I will wait for you."

Ao Luan said: "No matter how long, I will wait."

Ao Luan watched as Sun Wukong gradually vanished into smoke.

"Spiritual Network, I entrust this to you."

Sun Wukong's voice said.

The voice was full of encouragement and laughter.

Ao Luan felt the trust in his words, almost bursting into tears again.

She looked at her empty right hand, took a deep breath, and transformed back into a dragon.

"Look up!"

The high-pitched dragon chant resounded.

The clouds dispersed, and the sky after the rain was clear and blue.

At this moment, everyone was looking up at the white giant dragon in the sky.

The awareness of the Spiritual Network condensed into the most beautiful halo around it.

"Human beings, I will pave the way to freedom for you with my brother's memory."

Ao Luan's voice spread through the Tree of Wanling.

Within the brilliant halo, a vague, ethereal echo was heard.

Endless Spiritual Energy, expanding outward in circles.
