Capítulo 615: Feather
As the planet fell toward him, Rael slowly made his way over to Kareth and Anastasia.
Kareth’s yelling had caught his attention, and when he realized why that was the case, Rael stopped in his tracks.
Glancing down, he saw Kareth kneeling and holding Anastasia up. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was very shallow.
Her mana was completely drained, and to add insult to injury, her mana was not even regenerating anymore.
She was going to die. That much he was sure of.
But… none of this was supposed to happen.
Where had the deviation happened?
He was sure he had taken the optimal route to subdue Lucien.
He had even gone above and beyond with God mode and barrier enhancement. In no way, shape, or form was this supposed to result in one of them dying.
Taking a deep breath, Rael sank into the Prophetic Realm. Without further ado, he immediately replayed the scenario.
As expected, it was perfect. Down to what he did and what he should have done. Furthermore, Kareth and Anastasia had played their roles perfectly too. Lucien reacted as he was supposed to as well.
So why…?
[Your divining rarely accounts for emotions,] Gaia said with a hum. [You always look for the perfect answer, and while that is 99% accurate, there is always a 1% discrepancy.]
While he did not understand what she was talking about, he continued to listen.
[In my humble opinion, when you were about to die, Anastasia took it upon herself to make sure Lucien did not have any way of killing you. The first two were coordinated, while the other, the literal final one, was pure panic. Did you account for panic?]
I don’t think so, Rael replied. I just selected the future. Can I really play out the emotions that go into it too?
[Of course you can.] Gaia giggled. [The fact that you can divinate the future means you can control the little things. You should try that next time.]
“…”
He took those words to heart, as time and time again, Gaia proved why she was the wisest person he had ever met.
After a bit of time to himself, Rael finally left the Prophetic Realm, staring down at Anastasia, who was on the verge of death.
One stupid miscalculation, and it resulted in the death of a Grade 8.
…Was what he thought at first.
But he had the means to save her.
If not the Premium Shop, then an item Vatyra had gifted him.
The feather.
But for starters, Rael did not use it.
He had so many other choices, and he decided to use what little time he had left to scour the Premium Shop.
Since he had a budget of nearly 300,000 Premium Coins, he looked in that range.
But he was not met with anything too extraordinary.
Rebirth pills that restarted one’s life. Literally, she would be back to level 1.
At that point, she might end her own life.
Then there were some instant health and instant mana potions. They were very costly, but that was because they restored a flat percentage.
After buying one, a purple potion appeared in his hands. It was tiny, but even so, he crouched down beside Anastasia.
Kareth and Rael exchanged a quick glance, and then Rael opened Anastasia’s mouth and poured the contents of the potion inside.
She drank it all in one big gulp, and so Rael backed off slightly and began his count.
A second, two, five… nearly a minute had passed, and yet she was not showing any signs of getting better.
Why isn’t she getting better? Rael wondered, rubbing his chin. That potion should have restored 10% of her MP and HP. I bought the one that works for people even at Grade 10, so just why…?
After a brief pause, Gaia replied, [It is a complicated process, but my guess is that she detached herself from the system by imposing those orders. Now everything that uses the system’s help is not going to work on her.]
…Has that happened before?
[Indeed. I have met several powerful individuals who have done that. It has its pros and cons. Mainly cons,] Gaia said.
If that really was the case, then his second option was out of the equation too.
Rael thought that maybe after she died, he could cast a healing skill and revive her.
After all, he could do that thanks to his Archangel’s Wisdom special stat.
But apparently not.
That only left Rael with two choices.
Let Anastasia die.
Or give her the feather and let her live.
If he let her die, he would not have to worry about her coming for him in the future.
After all, she wanted a duel.
Seeing what she could do with her orders, Rael was 99% sure he would get his shit rocked very, very easily.
But she was also someone who had saved his life.
Grumbling to himself, Rael could not decide what he wanted to do.
That was until Anastasia let out a cough, then another.
Suddenly, what little mana she had left dissipated. Furthermore, her skin was turning pale. For origınal chapters go to NoveIꜰire.net
Without thinking it over anymore, Rael took out Vatyra’s feather.
He had no clue how to use it.
Did he have to feed it to her? Should he just plop it down on her chest and hope for the best?
[Stab her with it,] Gaia said urgently. [The tip is very sharp. It needs to make contact with the blood. After that, you will see.]
Hearing that, Rael gave the panicked Kareth one last nod and swiftly stabbed the feather into her chest.
To his surprise, the crimson feather immediately disappeared.
But that was not the last of the surprises.
A crimson flower bloomed from her chest. Then, without warning, it expanded rapidly, trapping her in a cocoon that they could not see through.
They tried, but they were pushed back by the ever-expanding cocoon.
Eventually, both Kareth and Rael were at least several hundred meters away in the sky.
Kareth held Lucien by the throat, and Rael stared at the crimson cocoon with a conflicted gaze.
On one end, that was cool and all.
On the other…
